If this is the aspect of your life that drives you to this level of childish over-reaction, I'd say you have a very good life. Note: I recognize that you are probably not really going to start capping HD riders that make more noise than you like....but holy *****, the thought would have never entered my mind, even for far worse infringements of my self-centered expectations of acceptable behavior.

I wish my life were such that the sound of a 45 degree V-twin was the worst that I had to endure.

Sheesh.

I equate the sound of most HDs with the sound of an old clapped-out pick-up truck with a rusted exhaust pipe and missing on a couple of cylinders. Not cool, just annoying.

As for the noise saving lives, I knew the darned things were there when I caught up to them on the twisty road last Thursday (in my diesel Jetta). Listening to staggered exhaust pulses every time they got back up to speed after tip-toeing through corners made me think more about taking lives than saving them.

Having said that, I like old Sportsters with narrow tanks and stock riding positions. Just spare me the 'Easy Rider wannabes'. (And what's with the leather streamers on the handlebars?)

The older of the two said he really missed the HD and said the BMW was unreliable and poorly made...humm... Before leaving I asked if they ever ticket loud bikes with aftermarket pipes and the older cop says "Not if it's a Harley"

wow. these guys are too dumb to be allowed to wander around with guns and badges.

i rode a buell for years. a fun bike if you don't care about things like reliability. and it sounded great. eventually got a BMW. you could stand a foot away and not know it was running. suddenly, every commute became a fight for survival. cars were just merging into me. a six foot guy on a bright yellow bike was somehow invisible.

installed a set of remus pipes. it took care of the problem.

When I'm behind/beside one of those super loud harleys, I wish I had one of these mounted to a turrent that was concealed in the trunk of my miata.

"You think that bike's pretty loud, huh?"
< push button > click, rrrrrrrrrrrr (sound of the air raid siren turrent deploying out of the trunk)

"I fart in your general direction!" < ooooooOOOOOOOooooooo >

Yeah, enough decibels to make them loose control of their bowls. That would be funny.

Or, maybe a pass by a top fuel dragster, that would probably do the trick too.

Christ, not this crap again.

Saving this thread so when the one of the whiners actually snaps and kills someone (via shooting, clothesline, or oil slick), we have evidence of premeditation.

vocalizing that you want to shoot people because of their loud music or pipes seems like antisocial behavior to me.

ide expect such comments from the mini-van forum but the porsche forum? wow what snobbery

I love the sound of those portable boat air horns; do you think the RUBs would humor me if I wanted to blast it in front of their house @ 2:00am on my way back from the bars?

Be careful Thom, some of the trigger happy folks who get mad at the sound of motorcycles or loud music might start shooting at you.

Its cool hippy, you can blow whatever horn makes you happy in all your vw's.

You know how to tell when your HD needs oil????
No oil spots under it
Awesome panhead, I was a loud piped harley guy, 86' FXWG, and yes there is a safety comfort zone with loud pipes.

Not every guy with his bass cranked up is a gangbanger. he's a lowlife, but not necessarily a gangbanger.

I have noticed a distinct pattern where afficionados of rap or mariachi music have to crank it up as loud as it will go, and at the same time the windows HAVE to be rolled down.
Don't like that, don't undertand why they have to do it except for the look at me factor.
I don't want to hear their music. I don't force them to listen to my music, I shouldn't have to listen to what I consider total BS crap noise.

Besides, most of the guys I knew at that age kept the widows up if the stereo was loud or not so they didn't lose their contact high.

Frankenstein by Edgar Winter is music.
