PHILADELPHIA - A gun-control activist who championed the cause for more than a decade and served on the boards of two anti-violence groups is suspected of working as a paid spy for the National Rifle Association, and now those organizations are expelling her and sweeping their offices for bugs.

This is completely unsubstantiated, yet because it is a shot against the NRA, it will be repeated for a few weeks in newspapers, websites, the evening news...

And we all know that Mother Jones is a reputable publication without an agenda. I mean, they hired Michael Moore as editor, so they must be good. (They also fired him for consistently missing deadlines....and work itself....)

Contrast that with Obama's smoking, or John Edwards affair, or Hillary's inner circle--all "off limits" topics.

In my 7-minute drive to work this morning, I heard this story TWICE on Chicago news radio.

Of course, if the Brady Campaign had a spy in the NRA (and they probably have several), we'd never hear about it...

Fox has been running the Edwards thing. This morning I saw them have two lawyers debating whether Edwards would sue the Enquirer or not and the merits of both sides.
