Considering the stout design, I'm suprised he skimped on fasteners when mounting it in the car.

I kind of miss the demise of the camaro/firebird.
 That was the perfect car to follow on the inter-state a half mile back.. Hanging out in the left lane - 15MPH over. Perfect trooper bait.  The modern rice is really not the same. |

That's much better than half the Hondas running around So Cal with fake roll bars, they use PVC piping from home depot and cover it with the foam roll bar padding and pretend it's real.
I punked one in front of his girl friend once. He was popping off pretty bad so I reached in and peeled back the foam. Yep, PVC. I called him king of the posers and his tramp/slut/trash girl friend started cursing and screaming at me. Darned kids. |

I would have used drywall screws to fasten it to the carpet.

I like the way he structurally tied it into the suspension points. I bet that really increased the torsional stiffness of the chassis.

I think I know what happened to his "design". When it came time to weld in, someone pointed out how the rear mounting plates would be welded directly over the gas tank. There is very little clearance between that tin and the tank.
He probably got cold feet on the idea on decided to pop rivet. |
