And this is a question of taste of course—but I prefer the looks of the Boxster. At least in the flesh. Though the Cayman is probably more photogenic. |

There's also a clever little cubicle for storing your colostomy bag. ;) |
For that kind of scratch, go test drive a couple well-sorted 993 turbos first. Or, like Denis mentioned, maybe a nice 996 GT3?
Heck, you could even swing an `07 M6 (500hp v10) or an Exige S 240 with $$ left over. |
993 turbos were the shiznit in their day, but a 996 GT3 stands head and shoulders above it in the world of Porsches, performance-wise at least. And that's what these cars are supposed to be about, right? Lap times and how gracefully they crush the competition. RWD, more HP and normally aspirated, lighter, better brakes, etc., etc...
When Porsche started w/ the GT3 (and GT2) cars, they seriously took the game to another level w/ their production cars. The new GT3 RS will mop the track w/ anything they've ever sold to the public, with the exception of the CGT. |
Interesting. There isn't, or at least wasn't much love for the RS60 Spyder back in the day. But then sometimes we just like to poke at boxsters and miata.
I'm picking one of these up Monday. It's #99 of 1960. I'm pretty stoked. Boxster S, optional hardtop, PASM, Sport exhaust. Sounds good to me. The only upgrade that I think I could do without is the 19" wheels. I'm thinking that 18s would be plenty big, but I'll learn to live with the 19s. Yeah, I bumped an ancient thread. I saw the other thread where everyone was wondering where Dottore was. Did anyone ever find him? |
Awesome choice Steve! Great cars! What colors?

Aaaaalllll in good fun only. I should be picking up a 2002 Boxster S for a friend as early as next weekend. Excellent cars. |
Was a little spooky to click on a thread started by Dottore. Then noticed it was from 2008.
Here's hoping the ol' guy shows up and reverses all the speculation. |

I think you could have also ordered a black interior.

Two years ago I would have told you I will never own a water cooled Porsche. I loved my 911 and all Porsches should be air cooled :D. One year ago I started thinking about getting something newer with creature comforts. This past December I picked up a 2002 Boxster S and damn what a great car ! Great road handling/feel, very strong pulling in all gears, AC/heat that work great there really isn't much not to like. I enjoy this car so much I may sell my 911
