I realized the other day that I'm going to be getting this Porsche 15 years to the month after I got my first. I got the first in Aug of '99 a few weeks before my birthday. Now, I'm picking this one up less than a week before my birthday 15 years later. Neither was actually a birthday present, the timing was just a coincidence, but they do make for a pretty spectacular b-day present.

What a beauty. Love the interior.

I'm sorry, but I don't see "Own a Boxster" on the man card, so...

That looks more like a Redneck card than a Man card. None of that **** is on my to-do list for today...

You live in a cave, too?

Okay, fine. Here's one for you:

You do realize, this is a joke right?

I had a 2001 S and miss it. It was my introduction in to track driving and racing. The thing I remember is Don Kitch who owns proformance racing, was featured in the racing in the rain book and races Lemans for charity every year getting in my car at a full day school with me in the passenger seat. He gets in and says "great, it's an S, let's go have some fun". I was hooked on trying to do in a car what he can do. I'll never get there but I'm having fun trying.

No, I was just born yesterday, so I am having difficulty understanding your jokes. Can you explain them please?

JR

Sure, six years ago the OP asked us to talk him out of buying an outstanding example of Porsche engineering. Even though he is gone, the joke has continued.

I think he should have put the post in green. I do believe he was joking. I think that list is like the "most interesting man in the world commercials"

Although, some much of the stuff on the list is OK, it's not all necessarily my thing, and probably not necessarily list worthy, but...

Aspire to be manly like Steve McQueen, that one is OK

Rebuild an engine, that's cool

Stop a purse snatcher and rescue a kitten, sure, those are cool. I'm not necessarily going to go looking for them, but if the opportunity presented itself...

I know, I just get sick of the jokes. It's not like they were all that funny in the beginning and time hasn't improved them. The anti-Boxster rhetoric gets old.

You've bought I car that I think you'll enjoy. I bought one back in 2008 and it's been a great car. I've owned more Porsches than I can count and I could have picked anything they made when I bought the Boxster, but that one couldn't be bested, in terms of bang for the buck. I actually prefer driving one now, over a similar 911.

Have fun,
JR

Cool, I thought I saw a thread somewhere with your name about the RS60 Spyder.

In another thread, I mentioned that I had driven a 2001 996 turbo. I was underwhelmed. It was fast, but didn't seem nearly as fun/engaging to drive as the Cayman S that I drove the same day. I assume that I'll like this boxster just as well or better, especially considering it's coming with the Optional hardtop, sport exhaust and PASM. Besides, I dig the red interior and I've always liked silver Porsches.

mreid 08-17-2014 11:31 AM

Sorry, man, I didn't mean to hit a nerve. I love the Boxster (actually prefer the Cayman as convertibles are not my style). I was just playing along.
