I love how this thread has turned! But I think it's just Dave's Social Experiment. I count Dave as a good friend. He knows I'm working round the clock and I think he wants me to focus on the business more. he could be right.

Great point...well made.

Wellthat would NOT be me Matt. I ask this though. Wouldn't forcing this young mother to marry at 17 yrs old be another mistake? Certainly the father must be involved but do you really think such a marriage would last?

Are they being forced to marry? Do "we" even have enough information to judge what is best for them?

Are you serious? Forced? Mom is made VP pick based on CORE Conservative Family Values and you think she has a choice? The boyfriend could have slipped her a date rape drug and she'd still be marrying him.

My heart goes out to that child. But then today's high school kids are notorious for their good judgment, like proper use of birth control for example.

I think there's a lot of out-of-bounds posters on this board. You're frequently one of them (queue up the trademark charming Soup "MOI???!!" response #541 now, please). What gives me pause is when someone who is otherwise articulate and rational, really goes suddenly and violently nuts.

Let's be clear: most of the time Shaun is stirring the pot just to watch the usual suspects howl. When I saw him dropping the f-word not once but twice on Randy I thought 'wow, he's really serious this time' and I just had to ask what it was about this candidate that's got him so worked up. Shaun does not generally profane.

That's why I started the thread. There are plenty of posters here who are out of bounds most or all of the time. I expect nothing less (and nothing more). I have never used the ignore feature here, but usually when it comes to these posters, I just skip over them. At best, I read a line or two, roll my eyes, and move on. That's on both sides of the political fence, by the way.

Superman is Track Palins' daddy. You heard it here first.

Me;)

I had the best parents on the planet earth and still made significant errors in judgment. They were honestly open, caring, thoughtful and non-controlling parents, like you read about. They were also firm about the basics of what they honored in a child, in a adult, and their peers.

Frankly, that was their gift to me. Even when I was a stupid teen, they always had a standard I understood. The fact that I didn't meet that standard at times when I was a teenager didn't mean I didn't or couldn't as I matured.

Family values are a goal for some, an ideal to strive for...individual teen failure to achieve that goal is not an indictment of the ideal.

Shaun, you have been a pleasure in the past.

Not yet. Photoshop him into a dress and a moustache and I'll ponder further.

No, we don't. But that won't stop some from believing they KNOW the TRUTH, and spreading it as such (see above). What's particularly nasty is that there are a bunch of adults spreading nasty rumors about a 17 year old. Sad, sad, sad.

The interesting part of this is that Palin vetoed a bill to support teen mothers:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.

Yes, very serious.

So you do know they were forced to marry? Sounds to me like you are assuming, based on your own judgments, yes?

You could be right, but it's not an assumption I would feel comfortable making.

FWIW.

Huh?

Outside of Dems, et al, (including three prominant Republican conservative contributors to the National Review ) questioning her background (that's hardly "attacking"), all I'm seeing on the news are Republicans in a frenzied state of ecstatic conversion to maverick reformers (LOL!) who're champing at the bit to clean up the Republican mess that all the Republicans in the Republican administration have made of things these last 8 years.

What the hell! They gonna beat themselves up? Funny stuff :D.

Meanwhile Obama, speaking for the Democratic Party, has had the common courtesy to ask his supporters to refrain from dragging Palin's (however "illegitimately pregnant" anyone in it happens to be) family into the arena.

Too, too ludicrously funny :D.

It is sad. As I said in another thread, and as a Father of a Daughter, I would not think very highly of folks making judgments about my family and how we should live, especially the folks who know absolutely nothing about my family and I except what they might read in the press.

It does boggle the brain, yes? :)

Best,

Don't recall exactly what you are referring to, but I too am a perplexed when I hear one of the very few lefties here that I some semblence of respect for at times, buy into the Obama folly while viciously attacking anyone on the right.

Reminds me of a good friend of mine who on all accounts would support the republican party on the majority of issues, but instead votes democrat because he is still bitter about Reagan firing him when he was an air traffic controller.

How virtuous. He knows that he can save face and distance himself from the mudslinging. All the while his little loser blogger minions are busy making up stories and photoshops. It's all for the better I suppose, they're so worked up because of the obvious threat she poses to their "destiny".

Kurt, I also have a daughter, so we're in the same boat. This poor girl's life has no place in the public eye, those who tormet her are quite frankly dickless cowards. No man (or woman) with any sense of integrity or virtue publicly abuses a 17 year old pregnant girl to further his agenda. Can you imagine the fury of her father?
