The "Mr Beer kit" is a great way to get started in homebrewing, I would recommend using bottles instead of the plastic bottles and screw-tops they sell in the starter kit, though... That's how I got started years ago...

I can give you directions which will allow you to learn the right way to make beer and do it for less money than mr. beer.

You can brew all the beer you want. You just can't drink any.

Any young man capable of making a fine brew should be able to enjoy it.

I got one as a gift last yr. The mr Beer kit makes decent beer. You can brew about 24 bottles. They have other mixes you can buy, besides what comes with the kit. its a good way to start off homebrewing.
I still use mine even though I got a little more involved in homebrewing.

A rule strictly adhered to by all underaged home-brewers. These fine boys and girls enjoy the brewing process simply because of the sense of accomplishment it provides.

When I was a Freshman in college I knew a guy that could make "wine" out of a gallon grape juice, some yeast, and...maybe something else. Can't remember.

Anyway, all stuff you can buy at the grocery store at any age. It tasted like crap, but got the job done.

Grape juice + sugar + brewers yeast + balloon on the top of the jug, and let sit for a few days = wine. You can use normal bakers yeast, but it does leave an aftertaste that the brewers yeast does not.

I looked on this PC and I don't have the file. I'll look on the server at home later. All else fails, I'll pull it up when I'm back in the USA.

Speaking of alcohol, has anyone ever tried distilling wine?

A quality homebrew kit with fermenters, two 5-gallon glass carboys, cappers, bottles, transfer hoses, kettles, strainers, airlocks and everything else (idophor, yeast, malt, grains, whatever) can be had for about $200. After that, new 5-gallon batches will run you about $30 each, paying for itself in very short order.

Which reminds me, I have a batch I need to bottle up right now so it'll be ready to drink for this weekend.

Thanks Red Beard.
I did a bit of investigating and I guess you can make any recipe an N/A brew, (I don't drink alcohol). You cook it @ 180F for approx. 30 minutes to burn off the alcohol.
