seriously, I do have 1 big issue with the way they treat 9/11..it should be a holiday, mandatory evreyone closed holiday..to reflect on how good we really have it and to understand that our policies were responsible for it

there was no politics in my respnse..it was truth..they sought to restrict out freedoms and we voluntarilly did that with the patriot act (nee riechstag decree)

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Not allowed. In the meantime, take a minute and look up "fact" and "opinion".

Right, your two posts are not political at all.

I guess I just like the approach of letting each individual PPOT participant or PPOT reader create his or her own "customized" experience based on their own personal choices, i.e. read what you want, ignore what you don't.

It is a little difficult when almost every thread on the first page is obama-this or palin-that. And contrary to our favorite hornet's next agitation expert, this thread isn't tied to the polls. For the record I'm not really a fan of BO and in fact have gotten into some rather heated dinner party conversation as of late when I've said he's mostly an insincere doofus.

I guess I long for the days when political rancor was just a player on this board rather than the dominant focus. I'm frankly not that interested in politics. What I find fascinating is all the crazy stuff that PPOT used to be about, and the nutso attitudes and interests of the inhabitants. Shrill partisan bickering can be found anywhere on the interwebs. Cat farts, not so much.

Don't be a cat fart hater.

You misunderstood, I'm a cat fart lover, politics hater. Typical mushead liberal - can't understand the written word :p

You do realize that it is not permanent? We are 2 months away from a presidential election. Only happens once every four years, ya know?

In a couple of months, your good old days of politics not being a dominant focus will be back.

(I am the, and I approve of this message).

nostatic 09-10-2008 08:58 AM

yeah, but I want relief NOW!

maybe I should just start my meds back up :p

kstar 09-10-2008 08:59 AM

FWIW, I just now counted 35 threads on page 1; 11 threads appeared to be overtly political.

That is a big chunk, but there's plenty of other stuff and anyone can start a new thread on another topic, but . . . the most popular threads stay on the front page, of course.

Politics does sucketh and stinky fish on both sides are rolling around in the lipstick, but it looks like a lot of pigs like it. :)

Yeah, and in another TWO years it starts all over again. :(

BeyGon 09-10-2008 09:06 AM

And again, nobody makes anybody read it. If you read it and complain?

nostatic 09-10-2008 09:11 AM

it's kinda like having the neighbor with trash in the yard, peeling paint, etc. Sure, I can avoid looking, but it kinda makes the rest of the neighborhood unpleasant.

My $0.02. ymmv. The board will speak with its feet anyway. I just thought I'd throw the idea out there. Some people just love to stir the waters for the stake of stirring, and others think that saying the same shrill thing over and over again is fun. More power to them...lots of places to spend one's time.

Bush hates "no politics day".
Obama does too but he denied it ;)

maybe after the first few rounds.

I'd enjoy a no-politics reprieve. I gotta admit, the rancor is getting under my skin.

dd74 09-10-2008 09:26 AM

Personally, the Large Hardon Collider thread is much more interesting than the political threads. For one reason, I don't quite understand all of what's being said there, which makes it that much more intriguing.

Anyway, the real open minds of the board seem to be over there. I much prefer hanging out with them. :D
