I would say it is more like the neighbor with a spoiled rotten screaming baby that doesn't care how annoying it is to the rest of the world.

Same threats and insults by both sides on this board. Only difference is that the candidates started campaigning so much earlier which translated over to the political threads on this board starting earlier. November will be a month of gloating for the winners and then things will go back to normal where we are once again more interested in boobs and ass than politicians. As is should be.

Yeah, it was bad then, too.

BTW: don't you mean Kerry/Bush? Just wondering...

Yeah, them too. ;)

I think it's much worse this election year.

I wonder what it will be like in 2012.

For sure. Palin's got the goods at this rate. She gets my early "below my belt" vote. Just as long as she doesn't talk. (I'm not into her voice. Reminds me of characters from "Fargo"). :D

tangerine911S 09-10-2008 11:43 AM

I must agree. I kinda stopped browsing OT because most of the threads were political. At one time 10+ threads had the name "Palin" in the title on the first page. Hopefully soon after we have a new President PPOT will be childish and fun again. :)

I'll honor a cease fire for a day.

I'll reflect on how this country was attacked and came together. And I'll think about how it was torn apart by a bunch of self serving Democrats who voted in favor of the war and then turned around and used it to divide the country. In particular, Joe Biden and the other wanna bees like John Kerry.

I have this theory that special-interest forums go through phases. At a certain phase polarization in various elements (notably politics) abounds and some really interesting debates and exchanges take place. Participants are exploring each other's ideas and swapping information and views in an increasingly heated, yet fundamentally respectful manner.

But the next phase is domination by a critical mass (in the Pelican case - conservative middle-age male attitudes/perspectives) and increasing rancor and intolerance from the most outspoken of the participants. Rational debate of ideas or exchange of information becomes almost impossible. Mob rules apply. Sarcasm is the main mode of communication.

Pelican OT is permanently stuck there it seems.

The random pics thread is still good entertainment - the rest, not so much.

So you must be a mentalist like Uri Gellar, to post without even visiting the site! Can you bend spoons with your mind & other cool stuff too?

Can we negotiate a relaxation of the nipple ban in exchange?

I had the same thought a short while ago.

I think it's about time I start another thread on circumcision.

That will definitely cut down on things. ;)

rattlsnak 09-10-2008 04:41 PM

The only reason I opened this thread was because it said "no politics".

Get my point?

The mods didn't slant the table, that's ridiculous. A couple lefty-clowns went too far and got slapped but they asked for it. If the mods did slant the table would probably be in your favor, but they have shown a great deal of restraint lately.

Maybe you are just upset about getting hit back?

I belong to another forum, where you would get booted for calling any group of people clowns. I guess they had enough of it, but they also created a politics only forum, just so the people who want to can go nuts in their own little world.

OT is now a nice place to hang out over there. I try to be nice here, but sometimes the temtation to respond is almost irresistable. Strangely enough, I have the odd feeling that I would get banned for saying things that others post daily.

Strange or what ? I say or what. SmileWavy

Mule 09-10-2008 05:05 PM

Get banned for callin someone a clown? That sounds like a ball. Is it a religious site?

NICKG 09-10-2008 05:06 PM

opposing view bring wisdom to people who have no position...we should all remember that.without opposition, we would be very unhappy.
I applaud the board for being political, I learn something almost everytime I read a thread. Whether i agree or disagree, I learn to view things in a different light as a result.

Anyone else flying on 9/11? I'm flying home to San Diego from Dulles in the early afternoon. I would think that on the anniversary this could be the safest day to board a commercial jet. Wish me luck :)

I didn't call an entire group clowns. I called a couple of individuals who went too far lefty-clowns.
When referring to a group who go too far I believe it is proper to use the plural, lefty-tards. ;)
