Flew into SFO

yesterday, and then drove out to Walnut Creek. Today we went to three of our power plants in Pittsburg.

During the drive from SFO north through the city and then out to Walnut Creek, I was thinking that I could really easily see why you nuts live here . It's a beautiful area, and the 70° temps in Aug are pretty nice.

Within 2 minutes of leaving the airport, I saw a cobra (possibly a kit, but still) and a 356C. The only other interesting cars that I've seen were a brown long hood 911 and an early mini.

I'm leaving again tomorrow morning.

I wish I'd been able to stay longer and was with someone else more interesting.

Beautiful area, but the cost of housing is way past ridiculous, it's insane.

Yeah - check in before visiting. You would love Sonoma County.

You passed right by my 'hood - near the tunnel you traveled through in the East Bay hills on the way to Walnut Creek. Glad you liked it hear. Give the board a heads-up next time, if you can.

I have a good friend that moved his family to Houston from the Bay Area, due in part to housing and the cost of living. I believe they paid a bit less per square foot over there than we did here.

Too bad you are leaving so soon, Steve. You weren't too far from me at all today. The weather was perfect, wasn't it?

I live about a mile from downtown Walnut Creek. Walnut Creek is a really, really nice place. Great restaurants, outdoor cafes and even a few nice brew-pubs.

I was there about 6 months ago, for training in pleasanton, I've got to agree with Steve, great place, nice weather, but real estate is out of control compared to here in NC. Also pleasanton wasn't exactly friendly for a carless person.(it was a 20 minute walk from my hotel to the rail station), but SF seemed to be decent.

walnut creek is full of hotties. good and bad that they all appear to have read the same memo, and look/dress similar. total stepford wives thing going there. at least they all look good. i live minutes away. i get my hair buzzed at the best barbershop there. they flip you around in the chair everytime a hot women walks by. we discuss her merits. funnest 30 minute haircut ever..

next time, post up. i will buy you a local beer.

My ex aunt and uncle in law live in Walnut Creek. They have a great house on the hill that over looks the town with a great view of Mt. Diablo. By far on of the most relaxing atmospheres I have ever been in. Great town and only 30 mins away from the hustle and bustle of SF.

They paid $150 about 30 years ago, which was steep then. Has to be in the high $2mils now.

Vash, do you work for Caltrans? Are you working on the Devil's Slide Tunnel? I am. I'm monitoring groundwater levels, and I mapped the geology of the tunnel alignmant back in 1996.

Didn't one of those tunnels have to be reconstructed after a tanker truck exploded inside killing a bunch of people?

Yeah, I'd have loved to meet up with some Pelican's but knew I'd be pretty monopolized by work. I'd have definitely said something if I'd have been here for longer.

Yeah, the weather's been perfect the whole time.
