If they start paying to come into their store, I might finally be willing to suffer through that BS. What a hellish experience.

I wouldn't. There's no force on this earth so compelling as to be able to get me in a consumer frenzy mode alongside hordes of the dumbest mASSES out there. Forget it. I do pretty much all my shopping online.

This year my entire budget for everyone is about $300. If I get a gift from anyone with a price tag more than about $35 I won't take it. Things are too uncertain out there for people to be blowing their money on silly material things this year. I'd rather them save it in case they need it. Or spend it on ammo.

I bought a Toshiba Regza 37" LCD online for $400 cheaper than the cheapest retail store's sale price. NewEgg rocks! Maybe you'll save a bit more, I don't know. But I'm with Jeff, it's not worth fighting with a bunch of morons at midnight to save a few dollars on a luxury item.

I heard the sales will come sooner this year, probably out there now. I hate the thought of it being only a few months away. And now that Snowman is banned, no more entertainment to read about it either.

Save some money for the Circuit City bankruptcy liquidation. At the current rate of sales deterioration and cash burn, the company won't last long. In my opinion.

Quite a number of other retailers trying to make it through holidays in hopes of a miracle that won't come. Credit crisis will be the final blow for some. Come 1Q, more retailer bankruptcies, store closures, and layoffs.

My friends and I always go shopping at midnight for the experience. However, we like to fool around and cause scenes. Or drive past the Best Buy where people are camping out in 12 degree weather in order to save $200 on a $3000 tv. I'm unemployed college student and my time (and dignity) are worth more than that.

I've never been shopping on the Fri, Sat or Sun after Thanksgiving. I'd rather sew my head to the carpet.

Quit thinking luxury junk or Christmas stuff -- a friend of mine hit the local tool store last year and got a great deal on his air compressor. Where do you think I'll be this year?

At masraum's house, sewing Steve's head to his carpet? Sounds like more fun than going shopping.

I'd probably get run over by a crazed mommy in a Suburban before I even reach for the door handle.

Garrett we think alike. A friend and I (tried) to sleep out in front of a local lambo dealer this past turkey day waiting for the killer deals on a murci. Sadly, security didn't get the point.

Surely you must have changed that dire forecast after tonight's news?

It is looking like Bazooka Hank will get his $700 billion "nuclear arsenal" to start propping up failing companies.

A business so critical to our country's economic health -- like Circuit City -- certainly cannot be allowed to fail!

(Of course, if Goldman Sachs has any stake in Best Buy, you can be certain of Circuit City's pending failure. Get ready to see the world's most corrupt economy if the House passes the bailout package.)

The CEO was canned/left last week. I have also heard that they have been on credit hold with some major suppliers.

As for Black Friday, retailers stock up with crap to sell just for the day. So you only can buy what they buy to sell you. That said I visited numerous chain stores in Florida last week & one grizzled sales guy told me that they have become glorified security guards in the last 2 weeks. Things are grim in FL. More life in NC/SC & Atlanta this week (except for the gas situation).

The rescue plan is intended to support the banking system. Is CC a bank?
