I'm still trying to come to peace with the concept of power windows...

Power sliding doors......I wish I had them. Instead I have a 4 year old that can shut, but not totally latch, the doors on the mommy mobile.
Jeff, you're good to go in SoCal. But try warming up your '70 911T in the garage on a 10 deg day with the hand throttle. Or driving home from work when it's 110 and you don't have A/C. Oh yeah, and your leg cramps up because you don't have cruise either. I'll take a few conveniences, thanks.

Gon fix it with me hammer
|
was ordering my new BMW 118D sports hatch
one of the options : dynamic steering "if ze car is breaking out, ze car will automatically correct ze steering to correct ze zituation" no thx no buttons on my steering wheel no friggin parking sensors no electronic AC just the basic car, sports seats and alloy wheels i'm 3/4's down the initial break in on the car and boy i love it... feels almost like my 944, with better seats and even more grip to bad that esp and TC were not optional... they can be turned off, but i have to turn it off each time i start it up...every time forget to turn it off, and i go over a bump in the road or i get a little exited on the country roads around my house i see it's little brain work and that warning light goes on... every once in a while i feel it correcting things i don't want it to correct , it litterally brakesthe inside real wheel, during sharp turns

It is a bit eerie when your car takes control to correct a slide. My wife's old '03 4Runner had traction control and stability control, if you got sideways in the snow it would quickly cut power and straighten the car out. Not bad for my wife who can't drive, but it drove me nuts. Fortunately I could lock the center diff and eliminate EVERYTHING, then pretend that I'm a rally driver.

My mom's caddie has electric "memory" seats that remembers the dozen or so various adjustments... when you turn the car off the seat goes all the way back to assist in exiting. When you turn the car on the seat automatically goes to the memory position... my mom is MUCH smaller than I am... every time I start the car I feel like I am in a trash compactor! Fortunately a quick tap to any of the seat adjustment buttons stops the process but it still freaks me out a little.

Or in my case, the automatic transmission. They aren't my cars and I don't drive them, but whenever I'm around a car with one for a while it seems to crap out. Me on the other hand, never had a problem with a manual.

Automatic lights.
I drive through 2 short curved tunnels on my way to work. The usual scenario is just into the tunnel, some new BMW / Merc / Audi will illuminate it's tail lights. The car behind will assume it's braking and slam on its anchors, this then dominos back through the line of traffic. I'm waiting for the day some BMW is actually braking and the guy behind initially assumes it's the automatic lights. Seriously though, if the whole "use lights when it gets dark" concept is too difficult to master, should those people be driving anyway??
