MSF offers a passenger course. I'd recommend it if your fiance is not familiar with motorcycles. Too many passengers wrongly assume that being a passenger on a motorcycle is equally as passive as being a passenger in a car.

They talked up that course when I went through it. I'd take it with her if I ever decide we're going to ride together. I'm having a hard time getting over taking so much responsibility for someone else's life. Especially someone I care about so much. I've sort of done the calculations in my head for me. I'm 45, kids are 16 and 19, I have life insurance, college money set aside for them and if I croaked they'd be financially in pretty good shape. I'm not saying they'd be better off without me but still, I doubt I'd be riding if they were 5 and 2. Her son is 9.

Maybe I should ask my ex if she wants to go for a ride

Well, I just got the bike back from the shop.

No, nothing bad happened. I just like to start with a clean slate with a new vehicle. I took the bike into the Honda dealership.

I had:
-The carbs synched
-The valves adjusted
-The air filter replaced
-The chain adjusted and lubed
-The oil changed
-The coolant flushed and refilled
-The brake fluid flushed and refilled
-The clutch bled and refilled
-The spark plugs and wires replaced
-The forks lubed

When I requested this service, the service manager looked at me and said: "That might get pretty pricey." I asked him how much. "It might break $300." I laughed. I laughed hard. He looked at me funny. I just explained that I had just sold a sports car and the same service at a dealership would be several thousand dollars.

The final bill was $281.72, including all materials, labor, disposal fees, and taxes.

Yes, I could do the work myself, but in my frame of reference it just seems so cheap and quick (took them four hours) to pay the dealership.

Whoa! the D-tax? Your duc has the two valve head, right? Piece of cake to service...the 4 valvers are the ones that suck.

I like the price on the Honda service...nice bike Legion. Enjoy and keep her shiny side up.

Nice job. At that price I'd definately go the same route. I need to have some work done on my VFR and will probably take it to the dealer.

I just had Dr. John Walker put new axles in my SC. It took him 30 minutes, that also was a no brainer. Done right the first time for $55 in labor.
