You guys never heard of Canada then? Last i checked both Toronto and Montreal are not in the US.

The fact is that MLB is heavily populated by natives of various South and Central American countries. And most of the very best Japanese players also come to the US. So pretty much all the best ball players in the world play in MLB, so it really IS a world series.

Baseball is definitely an international sport. The title is appropriate.

That game should have been suspended after the 4th Inning, and the score should be 2-1 Phils, in the top of the 5th when the game is resumed.

Good job gassy, that is how it started. Living in philly as an Atlanta fan, I think the game should have been played out, or ended earlier/ or never been played. You are going to have a deciding game be post-poned till the next day (now it is snowing here in PA and wontr be plated foe 48 hours after the first pitch.) Now, we have a 2 and a half inning, possible final game, where any pitcher can come in and pitch. Thats not basebal to me. Phils have 3 at bats left, and the Rays 2 6out to 9 out, fair? I dont think so. Price for 3 innings, and either Hamels or Madsen for 1 inning, then Ligde to close. Its just not right. Its like saying the Flyers are in the Cup against Edmonton? and the ice melts, they stop the game and wait till the ice freezes up. They drop the puck in the Flyers zone, Edm. shoots and scores in the 4th overtime of the final game. F-ed up.

First of all the rays still have 9 outs to go. The innings being played are 1/2 of the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. So the phils have 12 outs, while the rays have 9.

If you want to go to the beginning of the 6th and lose the run, and get your 3 outs fine by me. I'd bet the Rays would rather keep the run than have to start the 6th inning over again. The run wasn't even earned in the first part. Rollins makes that play on Upton 99.5% of the time in decent weather.

The Phillies had to make 18 outs in terrible weather, while the Rays only had to make 15. Hamels had to pitch an additional 3 outs, after waiting 10+ minutes for the field to get taken care of.

Hamels will not be able to pitch in the second edition of this game, which NO QUESTION plays into the favor of the Rays.

For the Rays this is a winning proposition almost any way you cut it. True they have 3 less outs in this 2.5 inning game, BUT they had 3 more when it was advantaguous to the offense to have 3 more outs.

The only advantage that I can see for the Phils is that with the games getting stretched out it gives Hamels a better chance of getting to pitch in a game 7.

Whocares if J-Roll would of made that play. It didnt even come come close to catching it the pocket of his glove, it hit him in the hinge of his glove. Both teamshad to play in the rain, yeah, have some advantage to the Rays, but it super tough to play in the D or bat in the rain. Could have called the game if played the extra half inning and the Phills won, but there would have been an * next to the series. Kinda like *Barry Bonds* But it does give the Series some extra excitment. If Phils loose the rest of game 5, Its a whole new series.

After 4 1/2 innings the game becomes an official game if the home team is winning or after the completion of the 5th inning if the away team is winning. So it was an official game after the 4 1/2 innings.

The commissioner ensued as much that the game would have been "suspended" had they called it in the 5th or not. NO *, whether they called it after the 5th or made the Phillies play defense in the 6th the game was going to continue at a later time.

I for one care if Rollins would have made that play, it led to a run that was UN-EARNED. If the Rays go on to win the series there ought to be an *. In a series where 2 runs or less has seperated winner from loser in all but 1 game I'd have to say that 1 run is pretty important.

The Devil Rays are nowhere near in the Phillies league. Even with the Phils bats totally struggling, the Rays cannot compete with the Phils pitching. In the one game where the Phils had a good offensive night, it was a total blowout.

Of course, the best part about the Phillies is that they're at the beginning of their window...this is a very young team. Multiple world series titles could possibly follow this one.

If the phillies get a 1 run lead in this 1/3 of a game, it's over. Lidge will make sure of that.

Dude...save the fan boy dreams for your buddies in the corner bar. Nobody outside of Philly thinks your team is very good. LOL. The Phillies played over their heads in this WS and the Rays (especially their bats) never showed up.

The Phillies have back to back NL MVP's, the best young power hitter in the NL, the best power hitting 2nd baseman in the NL, one of the best young #1 aces in the majors, the best bullpen in the NL, and the best closer in the game. The reason the Rays "bats didn't show up" is because the Phillies pitching shut them the hell down. (To the Rays credit, they also had fantastic pitching as well, just not good enough to muzzle the Phils high octane lineup) The team that took down the "mighty" Boston Red Sox got dismantled by the Phils in 5 games, just like every team the Phils faced in the post season. No one even managed to force a long series with this team in the post season.

I used to watch baseball, then they cancelled the Series due to greed, sort of lost interest.

Had sort of a messed up finish to it this year, maybe God hates baseball too, or is itjust global warming

I'd agree that the Rays underperformed in the field and at the plate, but I also don't think except for a Ruiz and Moyer that the Phillies really played over their heads. Certainly the Phillies offense never quite got going up to its level, particularly the top of the order. Shoot if you watched any of the games on Fox they took pleasure in highliting how many times the Phillies left runners stranded in scoring position.

I'm not quite as confident about the world domination M21 is talking about, but I also think it is a low blow to call them a second rate team. I actually really enjoy seeing both clubs in the series. They both seem to be focused on the TEAM and not on the overly swollen heads of super-stars. If a first rate team to you is the Red Soxs or the Yankees then you can have them. I'll take watching second rate teams.

I'm just really happy to see a Championship in Philadelphia for the first time that I can remember. The last in 1983 was the sixers and basketball is the one sport I absolutely don't follow, plus I was only 5 at the time. It is fun to see and I am happy for all the players and Charlie Manuel. Charlie got blasted pretty hard by a donkey of a talk radio host here for years (howard eskin), and I am glad Chalrie got the last laugh.
