Wow, did you break your foot skydiving, Mr. Walter? Autoracing crash? Alligator wrestlin'?

(The thread title should firmly place the blame on the stupid dog.)

No, I fell down the last 2 stairs letting the stupid dog out in the middle of night.

My boss's wife just had surgery on her foot after her flip-flop caught on something, folded over, and she hit her toes on something. She's stuck in a wheelchair or crutches for quite a while. Doh!

That doesn't happen to us folks that wear real shoes.

That's sucks! Hope you get better soon! Well look at the bright side, at least the driving season is pretty much over instead of it happening in the spring.

My injury from a pet: I was carrying VERY hot oil out of the house because it was over heated and smoking like crazy so the wife opened the slider for me and I proceeded to walk outside and the cat came in the house like 90 that made me lose balance and the oil sloshed around. Well I ended up spilling some on my hand. So off to ER I went with a cooked hand. Luckily, I didn't loose any movement and there is no scarring.

I absolutely don't let the dogs in the kitchen, no way, NEVER! The wife used too and I warned her. Well one day she was putting a pot of water on the stove for pasta and one of the dogs was behind her and she tripped and the pot of water went all over her. I said what if it happened when you were taking the pot OFF the stove?

Sorry about your foot dude. Nothing like falling and breaking your neck and getting paralyzed/dead letting a dog out.

That sucks!

My stupidest move besides wearing flip-flops in the garage was breaking my toe at work while pulling a go-kart I was preparing for a charity event. I didn't see a doctor so it wasn't a recordable, but I did have to fill out an accident report. I never pull anything anymore, be it a go-kart or a dolly, I only push.

Yea but then you aren't ready to hit the beach at any given moment. With the exception of going to work or working out, I have worn footwear other than flip-flops on only about 10 different occasions in the last 6 months.

Well, I'm back. Actually the trip to the ER from admittance to discharge took only 3.5 hours. Of course, every employee had to stop by the room to see the damage. Thanks!!

right from the doctor report:
Fractured neck of 2nd metatarsal right foot; fracture neck of 3rd metatarsal right foot; fracture base of 4th metatarsal right foot; fracture neck of 5th metatarsal right foot.
The hospital folk wouldn't let me have copies of my x-rays to show you guys.

Basically, I broke my 4 toes right after the first "knuckle" on them as well as broke the bone that connects my 4th toe to the foot. This one is what may need more work after the cast comes off, apparently. I see a orthopedic doc next week and go from there. No driving the 911 but I shouold be good to drive an automatic so at least I can get back to work ASAP.

Just to clarify: the dog didn't casue my fall by getting under me or anything like that. If he hadn't HAD to poop I wouldn't have been up anyway. Just one of those things that happen.

Funny story: my wife made chili last night so I was working on getting my blood pressure down while waiting to be taken to x-ray.

Sure enough, just after I lowered the ol' BP the young nurse came in to get me. My wife and I busted out laughing. Poor girl, not only did she think we were laughing at her, she walked right into it. Muwahahahahahahahah!!!!

man, it's been a long day now my foot really hurts. I gotta go rest it.

I would probably be doing surgery on that to fixate the fractures, depending on where they broke and how displaced they are. You have to get the parabola of the metatarsal heads right, both how far they stick out and how much they stick down. Had a nice schizophrenic man with similar injuries, pinned all 4 percutaneously, ran pin up toe while holding metatarsal in reduced position, handy to have fluoroscope available.

You are going to be on crutches for a month easy, consider getting a roll-a-bout(sort of like a scooter, rest your knee on it), can lease or buy, unless you are good at crutches.

You broke 4 of the 5 bones bearing weight at the ball of your foot, how they line up will impact how you walk, for the rest of the time you are alive and kicking.

Tobra, what are you doing next weekend? You could fly to Michigan and fix it up for me.

I know without seeing the xrays, you can't tell exactly how things look but the doc seemed to think that the bones weren't too displaced. It's just a bad place to have a break. I mean that I twisted them apart rather than a straight break.

Broke my leg in 3 places on the way back from walking the dog on winter break of my senior year. When I got back to school, I was not lacking for sympathetic coeds.

Of course, I had to tell everyone I broke it while I was helicopter skiing in Canada...

I wish I could come up with something better but my wife heard the cussing after I fell.

I was going to post on this that you were wrong but then UM got a touchdown for the lead. But in the end MSU has the bragging rights for 1yr! GO MSU!

Bite me, Bill.

I can't do a thing, man.

Amanda "promised" the doctors that I would behave.

Honestly, I know it's serious. I don't want to make it worse by trying to be tough about it.

I perish the thought of not being to drive my 911 again if my foot doesn't heal properly.

I know there are more serious problems in the world and folks WAYYY worse off than me.

Thanks for all of your support, guys.

That does really suck! Get better soon! Stay on those meds!!

Actually, on the 31st I was going to try to get you to drive my 930 to Mason so you, me and Bill could put it on his trailer. I'll have to see about another helper....
