My neighbor went on Paxil. Made her ***** crazy. If she drank, she always ended up naked.
Yep. |
OK, does anyone have any "positive" stories or is it a guaranteed thing that the wife goes temporarily insane, sex becomes a thing of dreams and drugs are a requirement?

Why do I have a feeling that this thread is enlightening (in a bad way) for many of us?

my wife is 1/2 German, 1/2 Italian. Redheaded! and has M.S.
throw that together and add in synthetic hormones sometimes it can be a wild ride. I don't look forward to "the change" |

I just wonder if I am ever gonna get my friend back. I know people change and the "change" is very powerful in women, but, from those who have been through it all the way, does their become a stabilizing point? I mean does it ever get back to feeling like you have a wife again and not just someone to share the bills with?
|
Yes. It does 'normalize'. At least it did in our house. With meds, because there were other issues. But for a while it was a near-constant Attack of the Banshee.

And remember there is also a huge psychological component mixed in. Menopause = biological purpose is over. It is a time when they need a lot of emotional support. And as for sex, it is totally up to you to make them feel sexy again. Every day.

My wife has being going though this as well (hot flashes, sleeping on top of the covers, mood swings, anger, etc). The problem is, she doesnt think there is anythng 'wrong' with her. I WISH I could get her on some meds..

No one thinks there is anything wrong with them. Most people are wrong.

I went to a car show at one of those small town festivals (Great Falls Flopeye Fish Festival in Great Falls, SC) back in the late '80's and one guy was displaying a showroom quality early '70's Super Bee. Said he had done all the work himself... it took several years. I told him how amazing it was to see... I had never seen anything like it. He said, "It's for sale... are you interested?" I said, "After doing all that work, how could you possibly part with it? I get attached to stuff I spend that much time on." He said, "I'm ready to start on another one." I'm sure you know what I'm thinking. We may have now discovered why guys drag hopelessly shot old cars into their garage and spend years working on them every spare moment. Whaddaya think? |
Well...
I've known my Mother-In-Law for twenty two years now and met her when she was about 40. She has gone through Menopause and I have to say that (for her at least) it wasn't too bad at all. She has always been a bit of a personality and she simply became, well...MORE of a personality. She had the hot flashes and all of that, and you had to tread a little more carefully around her, but it really wasn't a problem in the larger sense. She's now in her early sixties and is still an awesome woman. A little nutty, but in a good way. :) It doesn't have to be the end of the world guys. |
my god this is sobering to read.

I think it has suddenly hit my otherwise normal, wonderful wife.:(
To wit: last nite she was really pleasant and coquetish at the restaurant, sidled up to me and said with a twinkle in her eye "Kids are all out of town for the weekend...better go home and get some rest for when I get home..." WOOOOOHOOOOO:D She arrives home and is ice cold and beyotchy...flips the Lifetime channel on and absolutely ignores me. I end up in the man cave (garage) with my new 9' wide projection screen surfing soft porn on late nite cable at 2:00 a.m. This sucks. |
