fwiw, I think that Ox is a bigger part of the sound than Moon. Not to say that Moon wasn't all that and a bag of chips, but they continued to make music and tour after his death and were pretty close to "full strength". I saw them in '80 with the horn section and they sucked. Evidently Pete was in full blow alcohol (and other) haze...was a very disjointed show.

18-06-1980: San Diego, CA, Sports Arena
Substitute, I Can't Explain, Baba O'Riley, My Wife, Sister Disco, Behind Blue Eyes, Dreaming From The Waist, Drowned, Who Are You, 5.15, Pinball Wizard, I Can See For Miles, Sparks, See Me Feel Me, My Generation, Naked Eye, Won't Get Fooled Again, Dance It Away, Summertime Blues, The Real Me

Saw them again in '82 and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen...up there with the Stones in '82 as well.

27-10-1982: San Diego, CA, Jack Murphy Stadium
Substitute, I Can't Explain, Dangerous, Sister Disco, The Quiet One, It's Hard, Eminence Front, Behind Blue Eyes, Baba O'Riley, Tattoo, Drowned, Cry If You Want, Who Are You, Pinball Wizard, See Me Feel Me, 5.15, Love Reign O'er Me, Long Live Rock, Won't Get Fooled Again, Summertime Blues, Twist And Shout

I also saw them in the 82 tour at the Oakland Coliseum - and the Stones at Candlestick, along with The Clash. Good times...

Pino Palladino is taking OX's place on this tour. Pino isn't a slouch by far.

He would be my first choice. There were rumors that he would be the man shortly after Johns death.

absolutely LOVE the music. headbanging stuff before there was headbanging!

my generation bass solo is no doubt some hot sheeyat.
magic bus, pictures of lily, can't explain, baba oriley....that's the good stuff to me.

saw a 'rocumentary' on them recently though and thought pete and roger were both tools of the highest order.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

My generation solo was my first solo.....and last. It's the only solo I play. Still do the song, at age 58 it is kinda tongue in cheek now. Don't do it all the time. just when I think it's right. Goes over big at biker events. I don't like bass solos. Bass players should not be soloists. (sorry static). We are supposed to live in the pocket.

Ooooooh Pictures of Lily...what a great song. The list id long...how about ALL of Quadrafinia?
