Gun Panic - Should I start Hoarding Single Shots, Single Actions, and Lever Guns?

All you black rifle boys are starting to worry me. I'm beginning to question whether I have an adequate supply of firearms and ammunition to get me through the coming... the coming... um, something is coming. Anyway, doesn't matter what, I need something to bring to the wife. A damn good reason to start stockpiling the Colt SAA's, the Marlin and Winchester lever guns, and all the Sharps, Ballards, Rolling Blocks, Highwalls, Hepburns and such I can find. Surely these will all be banned. Surely I must move quickly. Surely she will understand.

And wheel weights - what happens when "they" find out about my wheel weight cache? I'm down to less than two tons of the stuff - will that be enough? I'll have to hide all of my bullet molds - maybe put them in the tool box with the pliers (my wife thinks that's what they are; maybe it will fool everyone else, too). And brass - I don't think I have 10,000 cases left in the house. I've gotta make a run up to Kesselring's this week. This sucks. I'm really distressed here; I don't know what to do.

LOL! But Jeff, I am thinking of putting in an ammo hoard...a certain batch of politicians have promised a huge jump in ammo price through taxation...I figure 1,000 rounds for each caliber should be plenty, other than rimfire .22, which is the caliber I shoot most for fun. Even you can't reload that one. My true assault rifle, an M-1 Garand, is not considered one by that certain batch of politicians...I find that funnier than hell.

Yep. I'm right with ya'. When I've got 2,500+ rounds of each caliber sitting in my stash, I'll feel like I'm ready for the zombies. I'm most of the way there now, but not quite.

I brought these back from a trip to Asia. These are some fine examples of work from the British Industrial revolution. 5 Martini-Henry Rifles .577-.450. 3 of the pieces were manufactured in 1878 at the Royal Enfield Armory. 2 were made at a smaller arsenal named the London Small Arms Company. The LSA’s were made in 1883 and 1884. The same rifle that can be seen in the movie Zulu and Zulu Dawn.

Pre 1898 weapons are outside of most Federal Firearm Regulations.

If it's a miracle, Colour Sergeant, it's a short chamber Boxer Henry point 45 caliber miracle ...

I just started reloading ammo since the cost of .45 and .223 is crazy and I'm seeing a lot of interest in firearms from others around here. People were buying guns like crazy at Bass Pro shops in Perrysburg, OH on Saturday, at the Gibraltar Trade Center gun show in Taylor, MI on Sunday and at Gander Mtn. in Taylor , MI last night. I'm looking for reloading gear and supplies, so I've been hitting all of the stores and the gun counters are full of customers. When I talk to people, it seems they are concerned by 2 things, the new administration coming into office and the fear of civil unrest as the bloodletting in our economy continues and people lose their jobs and get desperate. This isn't meant to be a political post, just my observations...

You CAN reload .22LR.

You pour a liquid primer concoction into the spent casings and let it dry. Eventually you run out of places where the rim can still be pinched. I've never done it, but I know of people who have.
