How freak'n hard is it to find an M1A?!?

Jeez, every M1A I went to purchase, that was reasonably priced, was/is gone.

I guess, once I have a bit more cash, I'm going to have to pay a premium for one. I guess I'll buy some mags, just in case.

Oh, well, I guess a FAL is better than nothing...

Well, I've purchased 4 pre-ban M1A mags and 10 pre-ban FAL mags, along with the FAL. IF I find a reasonably priced M1A, I'll sell the FAL, probably for a profit...

Geez, now I need some ammo.

I'm thinking of one myself. That's what I carried in the Army, and really liked it. I was looking online & it looked like they were going in the $1,500 to $1,900 range. I wonder if the price will stay up if the frenzy relaxes later on.

Hey Red Beard, Not to sound funny, but when I purchased mine approximately 2yrs ago, None of the local gun shops had them. I went to shotgun news and found whoever was advertising them in stock for the month and called and asked if they had what I was looking for. Once I found the place and the gun, I went to my local gun shop and had them call and order it for me. I had to pay 10% over the price of the gun for this service. Be advised my local gun shop orders their guns online from a big outfit, and the owner had tried unsucessfully for about two weeks to try and locate any for sale. I had to take matters into my own hands and found a distributor out of Dallas Texas. I believe they were are large pawn shop that caters to law enforcement, but I cannot remember their name. Maybe some Dallas boys can chime in... Hope this helps...

I can't afford $1600-$2000 for the models that might actually be available. I found a couple of standard ones in the $1250-$1400 region and stretched to buy, since it is what I really want. But it's not happening. The FAL will be fine. I am buying some mags for the M1A, just in case...

My local gun shop/ range is selling "black rifles" as fast as they get them. i bought my Colt Sporter II AR15 in the spring for $800, now there is a waiting list for 1. Ammo prices are crazy, so I'm reloading my own ammo and the powder, primer, cases and bullets are all in short supply, too!

Everyone around here is selling out of certain types of weapons that they feel Obama Hussain will try to ban with Peloisi's help. Cannot blame them... stock up while you can because if they have their way people owning semi-auto weapons will stop.

redbeard............spend the bucks up front for a match or a superdupermatch w/mcmillian usmc stock and hart/kreiger stainless barrel.

either buy the fn...........or buy the m1a. my take is this. how many assault rifles can you carry?????

how many do ya wanna support???? mags special tools scopes scope mts blah blah.

and then if yer like me and everyjuan else here ya cant leave the damn thing alone w/out accessorizing the hell outta of it, you then spend even more bucks building an m1a into a supershooter.

buy a hathcock or a super duper match and shoot insane groups outta the box. then if yer uber anal(like me) ship it to arringtonaccuracy.com and get the uber uber uber snoooty shooting rifle. i shot 200rds outta my springfield superduper match(from springfields custom shop-over a year wait back then) and then handed to arrington. same with my m1a socom. 200rds and hand to phil to make it also into a super duper uber uber uber snooty group rifle. federal 168's til the day i die only.

ask me how i know! been der, done dat!

Hey man, google west texas armory, or try west texas armory.com. That guy specializes in m1a's and he usually has a few used ones on his site. you might want to email him or give him a call to see what he has availible. I have never dealt with him, but he has a nice site and seems to do good work...fwiw..

anudda interesting point on .308s ask me how i know.

maint level of evil .308's. cleaning time down to firing pin:

hk-91: about 3 beers if ya are lazy.

m1a: about 6 beers if yer good

fn: about 4 beers once ya get rattail out and apart.

thats down to firing pin, breech spotless, barrel spotless, action spotless, scope lens cleaned, all screws tightened.

on hk and fn's take long wire brush(e&l mfg) chuck into cordless drill with a lil shooters choice, sweets 7.62, or hoppes # 9 and clean the snot outta breech til ya can see yerself. time: 2 gulps on yer beer. screw cleaning by hand unless out in da boonies and even then i wouldnt clean it unless i shot over a 1000 rds at bad guys!

Seriously Red beard, if you go with the Fal now in truth, that thing will probably be banned before the m1a.. so I think you have time. I think that they had to ditch the flash suppresor and bayonet lug on the m1a during the last ban but I am not sure...

Thats a fine looking socom Charles... I hope to get one and put one of those Mcmillan folding stocks on it...someday anyway...

special super duper super secret stealth tool avail from...................

springfieldarmory.com kinda look like goofy ass pliers.

that socom soon will have a ZEISS REFLEX itty bitty teensie weensie SOLAR/BATTERY POWERED RED DOT on it real damn soon after i get my hensoldt FERO Z scope dialed in on my HK 91.

zeiss reflex weighs nothing. rifle sighted fer 200yds. big ass aperture on rear sight for tritium front sight. basically fill sight picture with FUR(elk deer bear ) or center of mass(human) and pull the damn trigger and you will hit it! no ifs ands or butts left over!

super duper uber snooty match has springfield 4.5 x 14 illuminated range finding scope on it with match aperture and see thru iron site scope mt. best of both worlds. if ya cant hit target with that rifle..............yer a freeking RETARD!

also NOTE YELLOW BOLT OPEN INDICATOR FLAG IN BREECH!

this is a lil trick from shooting match shoots. since all of us are UBER SAFE when handling firearms all of the time...........place that lil sucker in breech thereby knowing there AINT A ROUND IN DA CHAMBER TO BLOW YER OR YER FRIENDS HEAD OFF! i keep all of my rifles with loaded mag in gun with breech flag in safe. unless im firing gun ........FLAG IS ALWAYS IN PIPE!

AD's suck.............and they really really hurt and they really are permanent!

available von.......................MIDWAY all of a buck and a half (1.50$$)

every semi auto of mine has juan. be it pistol or rifle.

safety first!

I expect I will get an M1A, but it won't be cheap. I could have picked up a CETME, but I prefer the gas operated system.

Well, with the money I've saved on the FAL, maybe I'll pickup another CMP 1903 Springfield.
