Why? I'm not trying to be an a$$ (I'm naturally that way). Just wondering why one product should make you want/not want another. If you like the Cayman, you should get one. It's a fantastic car.

I think the Panamera's awful, too. What a huge missed opportunity, styling-wise. But I think the Cayenne is a styling dump, too, and Porsche has sold boatloads of those things. I think people who buy these things see "Porsche SUV" and "Porsche Family Car" more than they do the aesthetic ugliness of the designs. Either that, or they're blind. Which might explain the driving habits so prevalent today.

I know a few people who think our 911s are ugly. They think we're blind.

Listen, no matter the issue, you'll always find a dissenting opinion. Even a bunch of dissenting opinions. But I think if you were to poll the population in general, most would vote the 911 shape to be quite pretty. It's lasted for 45 years, after all.

I don't think the Cayenne and Panamera will stand a similar test of time. Doesn't mean they're bad trucks or cars. I just figure that it takes a fairly equal amount of energy/cost/etc to build a pretty vehicle versus an ugly one. If you're a company with Porsche's heritage, it's probably worth your corporate while to fashion aesthetically pretty products, in addition to solidly-engineered and highly-performing ones.

Maybe. I think most would pick the Corvette's shape over the 911.

Anyway, afer seeing the rear end of the Panamera, I'd have to change my opinion of it. The car's ugly.

I compare the looks of a 911 to the greatest rock band of all time... The Cayenne and Panamera are nothing more than the same band with a different lead singer or lead guitarist....

Good question. I guess that my admiration for the Porsche brand just slipped a little more. I never cared for the 996, as it too has proportions that are a little bit off, and even though the 997 is a big improvement, I'm not smitten like when the 993 appeared. The new 997's droopy taillights are a step backwards to my eyes. My appreciation for the marque also dropped a bit when the Cayenne was introduced.

I think Porsche should have introduced the Cayenne under a different label, like Toyota's Lexus or Nissan's Infinity. Tie the two together, but keep the Porsche brand focused on sports cars.

The other thing against the Cayman is watching the prices of Aston Martin's V8 Vantage fall. Before long, there will not be much difference between a new Cayman and a used Vantage. I think the Vantage is the most beautiful car on the road today.

I've driven the Cayman S. Truely a great car to drive. I'm just not drooling over them like I was.

They knew what they were doing when they rejected this design back in 1966.

That Porsche script font on the read is seductively 928.

The front looks nice. The side shots are bad.

In person, I bet it is O.K. Not beautiful, but OK.

A little more svelte than a Pacer. But I don't know.

Butt ugly, literally.

onewhippedpuppy 11-23-2008 05:41 PM

It's like someone tried to put a Cayanne out of it's misery by stomping on it. Unfortunately, instead of killing it they simply squished it down and out a bit. Stomp harder please.
