My wife hit a car last night. She was waiting to make a left turn and then got cold feet when the light turned red and she couldn't make it. She backed up and hit the car behind her. Because her insurance card had expired, she called and asked me to bring a new one, as the other driver wanted to see it. It was less than a mile from our house, so I hopped on the bike, no helmet and went over to the parking lot where they were. Since it never rains here, but did yesterday, my wet road riding skills have totally atrophied and I should not have gone out in rush hour, in the dark with no helmet on toward a mobbed grocery store parking lot. I locked up my rear wheel just before a turn, didn't goo down though. Wife's and other guy's cars were both fine, but the guy wanted insur. info just in case he found any damage in the daylight. I think it'll be a big nothing. But the holiday almost got off to a very bad start.
If I can weasle out of work tomorrow, I'm riding to the Coke Ovens.

Got home a short while ago from friends who invited my family over for the Thanksgiving meal I thought the streets looked like they did every Sunday when I was a kid and now it only happens three days each year. Today, new years day and Xmas stores are closed and traffic is light.
I’m not advocating we change laws; I just don’t think, for several reasons, its good that we got away from Sunday being a different day than m-sat. |
