Wireless home security system from Home Security Store

Anybody done one of these in their home? Need to get off my ass and get something installed in my home and I'm liking the idea of dropping $600 on equipment (have 15 windows on one floor) and only paying $9/mo for monitoring.

Also like the idea of having my alarm system text me when it's triggered via alarm.com.

I installed my alarm myself, then hired a pro to program it for me. I used Napco (bank grade stuff), so it cost a bit more than $600. I used a combo of wireless reed switches, glass break detectors and a few other goodies. I also hard wired a few sensors as well. All said and done, I've probably got $2k into the system, including the programming. I don't have it monitored, because the cops pretty much said they would only come out if they had nothing better to do. I've contimplated adding a pager feature (would call my cell, etc) and a remote to turn the alarm on/off w/o having to use the keypad. So far (3+ years) I haven't been motivated enough to add either.

I had a new system installed yesterday. I pulled all the wire for the switches and motion detectors in the house and my installer only had to hook up his panel and program. Itwas an awful lot cheaper this way, but still more than $600 I do have the ability to add up to an additiona l32 zones of wireless which I intend to use for some windows that I could not hardwire. A wireless contact is about three times as much in cost. I am putting a wireless motion in my enclosed trailer that sits beside my garage. Even empty trailers are high theft items around here so it is a little extra peace of mind. Just have to by-pass that zone when I move the trailer

Hmm...so with a lot of windows it COULD be even money paying somebody to run the wiring.

Their was a few companies offering free systems if you signed up for monthly monitoring. Seem to recall seeing them advertise on tv. Might be an option

You get a minimum of contacts and a long contract. Shop around.

hard wiring is the better (and cheaper) way to go. however, since i don't have an attic or a basement, pulling wire wasn't really an option. where possible, I ran wire, but most of my contacts terminate at a wireless sender. the windows in my house were installed in sets of 2. I put both windows on the same sender. If either one is opened, the alarm goes off. I also have a few wireless sensors out in the shop.
