I'm tempted to say chop, but the background makes me second guess that...

It says "Powered by Chebby," so, it must be legit.

why would it need to stick out of the hood so much
is a Chevy V8 so much higher then a Porsche V8?? even if you add a blower??

looks fishy to me

Indeed. I think they need to supply oxygen to everyone in the cabin.

The blower is sticking out of the hood. Blowers are tall. So are blower intake manifolds.

The engine in my old flatbottom (blown chrysler hemi) was well over 4 feet tall from pan to filter.
he prolly has the engine sitting a little higher in the car to account for a deep sump oil pan too.

Thats a 6-71 blower. Intake and blower alone are about 14 inches tall.
Looks real to me

Tell me more about the flat bottom boat with the old blown chrysler Hemi...please tell me you had a blown 392 in a boat...thats better than Viagra.....
Love Hemi engines...

Oh the pic could be legit...SB Chevy's get pretty tall with a 671 and pretty strong too.
regardless it still does not belong in a Porsche....shoe-horned, photo shopped or otherwise. Porsche engines must be in there...

I think that pic has been around here before. I don't remember is it was substantiated or not. If you look just barely to the right of the blower pulley you will see the the rolled edge of the hood opening. Also the reflection of the blower housing in the paint seems accurate. Pretty good detail for a PS.

But why the high stance?

Oh boy. Serious hijack in progress.

It was an 18 foot stevens flatbottom that I converted to 5/8" runner bottom, copying the cole CR3 IIRC.

The engine started out as a 392 but there wasn't much left stock when I got done.

Donovan block, original iron heads that were completely changed. 2 5/16" intake valves, 1 7/8" exhausts, the water risers in the middle were welded up and the intake ports were all moved to make them wider and taller. Those things would flow tennis balls. it had a custom welded intake manifold and either wet stack headers or 2 1/2" diameter zoomies depending on where I was running it.
I can't remember the displacement but it started as a 417 before I added an extra 1/4" of stroke (after I threw a rod through the side of the block, that was an expensive day).
.040" thick copper head gaskets, Mickey Thompson flat top pistons with dykes rings, sanford racing boxed chrome moly rods, fully counter-weighted internally balanced crank, 6 bolt mains, 14 quart oil pan with windage tray and piano hinge traps to keep the oil at the pump pick up, Monneyham blower putting out between 12 and 18 psi boost (depending on how quickly I wanted to blow it up) on 117 octane Powerine racing gas.
The water jackets were filled half way up with gypsom cement for strength and thermal stability. It ran a Joe hunt vertex magneto for ignition with stock 426 hemi wires.
It started with two holley 660 center squirter carbs, then two 1050 dominators, then an enderle mechanical injection system. Never did get that perfect but it was close enough.

I still have over $25k in reciepts for that engine (1984 dollars) and a lot of the parts were bought used and I did almost all the labor.
Scary.
One time i started it up in the garage to show some buddies. It had the zoomies then. I rapped it up few times then shut it down and closed the garage before trouble showed up. About 15 minutes later we saw smoke coming out of the garage door. seems the flames from the exhaust licked at the rafters and started some of them smouldering
