Absolutely! And everyone in politics knows that things are said to get ahead (or in this case cya). Later it means absolutely nothing because anyone in the game knows that's how it's done. I've got say that I don't understand the US system of voting in anyone to do with law enforcement, it makes them political positions. It seems (to me at least) go against the concept of a separation of powers... Politics -/ Religion -/ Law; as any one person/entity in charge of more than one is dangerous.

I think a few of the other guys have summed it up though - its these paradigm events that force change - often for the better.
