Went sailing today
While everybody is freezing their azz off. It was chilly - not quite 60 degrees a nice 8-10 mile an hour north breeze. It was a short one just about an hour.
Still - always nice to get on the water.

Braggart! Yeah, I'm jealous...miss my sailing dinghy more than I miss my 911.

Another 80 degree day here. I was in shorts and a t-shirt all day, even had a frozen yogurt after lunch.

Man, sailing is the greatest thing on earth IMO. There is so much good and one can share with the whole family and select friends too.
I have to join a sailing club and get out there! Mike |

At some point I hope to teach the kids how to sail -- but I'll probably end up doing that on our dingy (that also has a sailing package)

Sailing in a pure form...an enginless dinghy in the 15' range. Easily sailed solo.

Jeremy:
I grew up a poor black child, so I never experienced sailing as a youngster. My first room mate did have a Catalina 30 that we took out nearly every day. I have loved sailing ever since. My wife grew up sailing and she LOVES it. I am pretty sure my kids would "be on board" with it too. I would make an offer RIGHT NOW on your sailboat sight unseen, but I don't have anywhere near the money and we live on opposite coasts. If you can think of a way we could get it done, I am all ears. I swear, you are livin the good life brother! I must join sailing club, I must join sailing club... Mike |

I have been sailing in a little(read 1man) boat and loved it. Have thought about picking a 15 or 16footer up on CL and re-rigging it. They can be had cheap around here needing all new rope and courtesy of a flagpole company my dad has close to 500' of 1/2" nylon rope laying around. All I need is a boat with a decent sail.

Love the yellow hull. But yeah...without crew, too much boat to enjoy. Get into a dinghy that you can sail solo....many times, the times aboard my little mutineer helped my sanity, allowing me to get away from the pressures of the time.

Actually, I sail mine solo most of the time. Well, almost solo. Thats me and the first mate. It's amazing what modern day stuff like furling mainsail, electric windlass, gps, chart plotter and autopilot will allow you to do by yourself.

![]() All kidding aside, that's great!! good for you. I miss sailing. I'm not sure there is anything like it. So many things to think about, maybe that's the appeal of sailing. Maybe it is that you know, deep down inside that if Mother Nature doesn't want you returning to port you will not. Back to the 'chilly' weather... What is the forecast for Daytona next week end for the 24 hours? Coming down Tuesday. Enjoy the 'chilly' weather Jeremy ![]()

Nice boat Ed - and yes, I solo this boat (San Juan 24) a majority of the time.
This is the sailing dingy I also get out on - It's an old Boston Whaler Squall. I have a set of or locks - the kids like to get out on it (and it's foam filled, unsinkable) ![]()

Looks like a San Juan?, S2? Nice boat, if you sell it you might regret that decision later.
I have been sailing for over 40 years and even quit my job, sold my house, took my then 2 year old son and wife on a three year ICW coastal adventure back in 1984. With three adult kids, to this day, despite all my efforts to try to get them to sail, they have no interest! We have owned eight boats over the last 30 years from our Columbia 23 to our Coronado 35, which we lived on. Through all that not one of my children was ever really interested in sailing. It was a bummer literally when we had to drag them up to boat only to get bored looks, and negatives attitudes. Geez, whats so bad about sailing? I evaluated my methods of instruction and tried to keep any negative attitude in check. I was no Bligh!!!! Sooo, I have concluded that sailing is something you really want to partake in, a spiritual experience for many, a challenge for others, but its a love it or leave it kind of experience. My wife and I are what you can call sailing fanatics, where we find more comfort being on the water under sail then any other environment. All sailors can relate!! Its a passion alright. You can give your children sailing lessons, send them to sailing camps, or even buy them a small boat (Sunfish, Laser, Snark, etc) for starters, but the truth is the love of sailing comes from within. How to nurture that will always be your challenge. Keep sailing Freezin on Lake Lanier, Georgia Bob Catalina 30 Breezin II ![]() |
