Gran Torino

I hadn't read any reviews and thought it would be just another Eastwood tough-guy movie. Much better than expected & surprising funny in some parts. Great job Clint!

I would suggest not reading any reviews, so as not to have the ending spoiled. Let's say it's like a cross between Archie Bunker and Heartbreak Ridge. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful film.

It's the best role yet for Clint.

We really enjoyed it...

I can't wait to see it. Clint is amazing and has redefined himself in recent years as one of the legends of all time. At his age of 78, he is just churning out quality film after quality film in recent years, very prolific and is setting the bar high for any director to try and match.

The movie was filmed in Michigan, where the Gov. a former actress is giving huge rebate incentives to the film industry...and there is a huge facility being built in Allen Park to try and attract more movies there.

The only critique of the film that I read was that some of the actors that Clint used were new, and a bit raw...but that probably adds to the realism of the film. Cant wait to see it.

Arrive on time. There's some wonderful wry Eastwood humor in the opening scene that sort of sets up the whole film.

Eastwood's acting style has always been a bit wooden. The range of expressions for example, that he usually employs, is not particularly broad.

Somehow though, in this film he undergoes this complete transformation from beginning to end that is entirely uncharacteristic—and very charming.

We had no idea what the film was about when we went there, and took along a young Vietnamese couple that was visiting us for a couple of days. They emigrated here four years ago, and we have been helping them get started.

Seeing the film with them was an added plus. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I saw an interview with Eastwood the other day. His response to some of the acting of his cast...to paraphrase. "There aren't many Humong (sp?) actors....one as far as I know." There are more now, eh?

Maybe not. Check the credits. There could be other Asian ethnicity acting as a Hmong.

Just like you could have a scottish actor in an irish role. Or an American Actor (Tom Cruise) acting as a German.

would have been cooler if the car was a 356 or a long hood.... the dog was cool, clint was cool & before i saw it i figured how it would end. it ended that way, but i was still suprised at how it ended.

Wouldn't have fit the plot of the story since the character was suppose to work at the FORD assembly all his life and hated Furrin cars coming to the States and taking away American jobs.

You knew something was up when he went to the barber and asked for a straight razor shave and then to a men's clothing store to get a tailored suit.
