I believe you are right to a large extent. There are always ways of hurting people, even with a strict gun law. I still think part of it is due to access. Same with drugs. If cocaine was an over the counter drug with a cheap price, I believe more people would use it. Generally speaking.

But culture, tradition, socio-economic factors and such have a tremendous impact.

i know. this is the problem. drugs aint gonna be legal in this country, at least not the valuable ones like heroin, and the demand for heroin is never gonna go down...so, it is what it is. this epidemic in this country is here to stay

Thank you Ronald Reagan and the "moral majority" of the 1980s for putting us on this idiotic, socialist law-enforcement pseudo-moralistic crusade.

The government doesn't dare back off their "war on drugs" stance now lest they give the appearance of backpedaling or admit being wrong before. Those are evidently worse sins than continuing to p1ss away untold billions of taxpayer money every year.

Actually if you watch Jane Goodall's documentary's (yes I know technical she doesn't study monkeys)

Primates in the jungle DO kill each other for no good reason.

And if we want to stop the gang problem we have to stop punishing the police for succeeding at controlling the problem. The police create a gang unit, they crack down on the gangs, the problem starts to go away, so they cut funding and shut down the gang task-force.

Man Arrested In Shooting Death Of 4-Year-Old Boy
The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested a suspect in the murder of a 4-year-old boy who died in the crossfire of an apparent gang-related shooting.
Police announced Friday that officers had arrested 25-five-year-old Howard Astorga, a felon who previously has served prison time for narcotics, gun and other offenses.
Roberto Lopez Jr. was shot Tuesday near his home in the Echo Park neighborhood west of downtown.
Several shots were fired from about 100 yards away and the boy died after being hit once in the upper torso.
Police say occupants of a car were involved in a confrontation with people standing on the street.
The bullet that hit Roberto likely was intended for someone in the car
