There seems to be a lot of Ranch Rifle talk lately. The older/original arent known for accuracy. Not sure if that matters to you, but something to think about. If so, make sure you get the Ranch model, or the newest version (all newer versions are 'Ranch').
In my head, if I have a rifle not known for accuracy, I want it to have a punch. You know, for Zombies. .223 requires accuracy to be effective. |

It's about a 2 to 2.5 MOA weapon, depending on the example you get. That's plenty for zombies. They do sell a match-grade version, but the closer tolerances do equate to more potential for stoppages. A big part of the reason the standard model is so reliable is because it's not built to the much tighter tolerances of a rifle like the the AR-15.
It's all engineering trade-offs. |

There seems to be varying opinions on the accuracy. While perhaps not the best choice for serious target/competition, it seems to be plenty accurate for most uses.
Basically I'm looking for something semi auto that would be a good earthquake gun (to accompany a 12 gauge) and fun for plinking at an outdoor range. That also doesn't break the bank. Love the M1A, but can't handle that much $$$ right now. Mini 14 seems to be a good alternative to an AR/AK. And I like wood stocks and a more subtle look. |

So, anyone have one of these Keltec SU-16CA?
I have read mixed review, but looks like a good beater - very light and foldable - CA legal - AK47 style gas operated: http://www.impactguns.com/store/640832000856.html ??? Last edited by aigel; 02-02-2009 at 12:35 AM.. |

I have owned an M1, have an M1A carbine and just traded for a Mini-14 yesterday (I got the Mini with a scope for my Bushmaster Varminter, some money and I got to keep the scope off the Bushmaster
![]() I like the lighter guns. I got the Mini-14 sighted in and I really prefer it to the Bushmaster. The guy I traded with really prefers the Bushmaster, so we're both happy. Gun karma good ![]()

I ordered an M1A from a guy I do business with for wrok a couple of weeks ago. He gave me a good price, so now its just a waiting game.
I still need to get a scope for my 22-250 that I built around a Savage action.... Bill |

When he says M1A, I think he means M14, not M1A1 (M1 Carbine)
If I pickup an M1 Carbine, it will be a CMP. But I need the moolah first...

There is a company in the Phillipines that does M1 to M14 conversion. Unfortunately, you have to do them by the truckload.
OTOH, how would an M1 that was converted to take a magazine and converted to .308, fall under the AWB?

As I read it, the out of state dealer must obtain a "verification approval number" from the CA DOJ prior to shipping to a dealer on CA's 'approved' database. It seems it can be done quickly over the internet. I haven't filled out the application yet. Jim

Well, I have an FFL here, but haven't gotten word back from the dealer who is selling. Did ping a few others and none of them would ship to CA, but they were private parties. Go figure...

WTF? What's the difference if a non-FFL ships to CA or PA? None.

The nice thing about the M1, it will arrive at your door.
You or another adult will need to be home to sign for it...

Nothing beats a bayonet for slinging zombies. More accurate than the AK, yet still have enough punch. It's a ton of fun to shoot.

From CMP? I thought it said you had to be a member of one of their affiliated clubs.
