2010 GT3 not as good looking as the pervious incarnations

I really think the new GT3 is far less attractive has the previous generation in looks, but the 435hp sounds nice.

To me, it looks like it has slab sides instead of that mean, widebody look. The front also seem to have a much steeper curve in the front foot from the pictures, giving it a WRX-type look.

But I never found the old GT3s to be particularly pervious.

I think the 997 GT3 is the best looking, better than the RS version. This one looks really sweet though.

I think the new one looks better from the back though.

Pics: Series I 2000 996 GT3, Series II 2004 996 GT3, 2008 997 GT3, 2010 GT3 (is that the 991? or is it still 997?)

What's different about it? I'm confused here.

The previous GT3's didn't do anything for me...visually, it looked lik APC slapped their aero kit on it. The 2010 is much improved...and twice the downforce from the aero.

In the world of supercars, Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, etc, the 911 series is a last place finisher in appearance. I'm never going to take away anything from performance, but the 996/997 looks don't differ much from any Japanese auto maker. The Carrera GT was a departure that broke new ground. I can't say anything based on the 997 does that.

The new front end looks a little vanilla to me. I think I still like the current GT3 a little better.

It's good to hear that a revised GT3 is coming...now the 07's will drop in price even more.

I think the first, "handmade, low volume, special series" model is perhaps the most hardcore and a lot of brilliant car for the money these days. The latest incarnation is of course simply a dream car.

Heh heh. Your quote reminds me of the guy on ebay who made his Camry coupe look like a 996...and he did a pretty good job about it, too.

Oh and I sent Gumpert an email saying I'd drive it for them.

Bernie - Is that my El Cheapo?

As for E30's...I'll be E30-free come this Friday. Moving on to faster and sexier things

Matt, have you seen the latest version of the Gumpert?

If by 'El Cheapo', you mean God's Chariot... then yes. She's a great car. Wrenching for the 09 Lemons race starts next week.

I do have an itch to build up another car... no clue what, though.

That car is so cool. It looks better after you and Kevin got your hands on it, Bernie. Souk never had the proper vision for that car.

Bring back the sexy curves!
