South Korean Woman Fails Driving Test 771 Times

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,488436,00.html

SEOUL, South Korea — A woman in South Korea who has taken the written exam required for a driver's license nearly every day since 2005 has failed again — but is hoping attempt No. 772 will be the charm.

The aspiring driver took her first test in April 2005, according to Choi Young-chul, an official at the North Jeolla Province driver's license agency in Jeonju, 150 miles south of Seoul.

She has taken the test a record 771 times, most recently on Monday, but has yet to pass. She said she plans to take the test again but did not say when, he said Thursday.

The 68-year-old has spent $3,000 on fees for the test, he said. Applicants must score at least 60 on the written exam before they can get behind the wheel for a driving test. Choi says she's scored as high as 50.

"I feel sorry every time I see Cha fail. When she passes, I'll make a memorial tablet myself and give it to her," Park Jung-seok, a traffic police officer at the agency, told the Korea Times newspaper.

You'd think after about 5 or 10 they'd get the hint...

Some people belong on buses. Seriously.

I'm betting a week after she passes she kills someone.

I saw something like that while I was living in Costa Rica, I went in to get my license renewed and some Tico came in. The people working there just started laughing at him. I felt a little sorry for him and asked the woman helping me what it was about. She said he came in every week and could never pass the test. This test was really simple---

I bet she's already driving.

Both my brother and I had our own cars before we had licenses.

Went to get my TX license a bit ago.

Guy at the counter in front of me was illiterate. The woman had to read the questions and answers to him.

You would think ability to read road signs is a requirement.

Her family probably lives here in Mira Mesa, lots of Koreans here, none of them can drive / pay attention to traffic laws. There is an Indian woman that lives up the street that is going to cause a head-on collision because she "straightens" the corner at the end of the street and she drives down the street like it is the "Indian"apolis 500.

This is just "fear of failure."

I think she's afraid she'll get in a wreck once she gets her license, and she's failing it on purpose.

Crusty, the article says she lives in South Korea. Be thankful for that. Heh heh.

The traffic officer is named "Park." You know if Cha didn't go to take her driving test in the dry cleaning delivery van it might improve her chances! LOL!!! (Chris you reading this )

After taking the written - she still has a driving test to go. It may take another couple years for that, who knows?

You would think that, by sheer random chance, she would have passed by now.

Just my personal observation, but it appears that ALL women drivers ( under the age of fifty ), in Missouri, are REQUIRED (at ALL TIMES) ... to be talking on a cell phone while driving a vehicle!

...new rule? Who knew???

If you had ever lived or driven in Asia or San Francisco, you'd not be aware that there is any humor intended in this headline and article.
