After reading vash's thread, maybe you guys can me.
Some guy ran my wife off the road last week. She was in the left lane, he was in the right lane a little in front of her (i.e. she was in the blind spot). Another car pulled in front of him and he changed lanes into my wife to avoid the other car. She went left to avoid him and went over the curb. See said she didn't hit the brakes because an SUV was on her tail.
The guy slowed down like he was going to stop and she was able to get his license number. There was a lot of traffic so he didn't stop. So far the damage was a lower control arm and the wheel and tire. There's some air dam damage that I probably won't bother with and I still haven't had the alignment checked to make sure nothing else is wrong. I'm into this about $600 in parts since I changed the suspension link myself and the alignment check at the dealer will probably be another $200. I doubt we have any legal recourse since there was no car to car contact so what do you guys think I should do? Kick his ass. Kick his car's ass. Leave him a really mean note. Or blow it off. ![]()

Fix your wife's car. Next time, she should hold her lane and either maintain her speed or brake in a straight line. Nothing good comes from a sudden swerve at speed.

Did your wife get the guys name and share it with you? Sounds fishy to me.

are there diamond earrings in the glove compartment? I think maybe she isn't telling the whole story...she likely has been swerving for years with him.

You're wife avoided contact- That's good! No insurance scams, no medical claims, no lawsuits...
Good for her. Now it's over. |

It sounds like the guy that swerved toward your wife was avoiding an accident caused by a 3rd party. It's also sounding like a convoluted mess with no witnesses and no accident report. Not much you can do.
I swerved to avoid a semi that ran a red light on a right turn. I was in the fast lane going in the direction he was turning, but his wide turn put his 50 gal fuel tank right in my sites. I climbed the center divider curb to avoid and bent my left tie-rod so bad, I had to get towed. The police came, but with no witnesses, it became his word against mine and he lied. I got stuck paying out of pocket for tow and repairs. All tolled less than $100 at the time. This was pre-Porsche days. |

Hmmm...he came from "all the way across the lane" to make contact with your wife, and this has been bothering you for a WHOLE freakin' week? Dude...hire Guido to take care of him and a PI to find out who else she might be swerving. Obviously, neither of them care about the sanctity of their lanes.

I'm going to blow it off, but it happened close to the house so there's a good chance of running into him. If I do, I'll casually mention the incident and the cost and see what his conscience tells him to do.
My wife hobbled the car home which probably did more damage like cracking the brake duct in the air dam. She took my truck to work and I took the bike. I came home early, checked the damage and realized it was just the one link (and serious tire and wheel curb rash.) The real pisser is her brother died that day, her phone was turned off, so when she walked in the garage at 5:00 and asked how much damage there was, I was the one to tell her about her brother ![]() ![]() The good news is BMW's easy to fix. The e90's have multiple front suspension links and only one appears damaged. A quick trip to the dealer that evening and the car was on the road again. Note: the ball's in about the right location, the socket's not ![]()

i dont "sit" in peoples blind spot, you (she) is just asking for trouble. you see "hoverers" do it all the time. you know, the people that go the same speed as the person next to them no matter how fast or slow. i dont stay in the blind spot and i dont stay behind large vehicles that block my view of what is up ahead.

I doubt she was hanging out in his blind spot. She was likely hauling ass past him in the left lane so she could get in front of him to turn right. I'm not saying she shouldn't have been there, or at least should have seen it coming, but she's usually passing not sitting ![]()

Forget the whole thing and be thankful she is OK.
Or call the police. |
