I was so impressed the last time I was in Australia, I bought a model of one and have it on my desk. The V8 ones are pretty fast......

I can't believe you missed my thread on that car three years ago. Has your memory gone completely?

They really shouldn't uglify it by giving it a Poncho facelift.

How many people who drive trucks don't have any room behind the front seat?
I haul stuff in my truck occasionally but probably not often enough to justify having a truck. But I also have 4 doors and room for 6 people.
I have most of the advantages and flexibilities of a truck and the advantages of a car.

Many years ago I had a two door truck without an extended cab of any kind. Once I upgraded to an extended cab I swore I'd never go back no matter what. Once I realized what I was missing I realized how much it sucked not having that extra room.

Holden also have the Crewman S and SS but they don't handle as well:

It took me a long time to forget about these cheesy walaroowagons after my most recent trip to Australia.

Thanks for nothing. Now I have to go wash out my minds eye with boric acid.

FUGLY.

Pontiac scraped it. Curious what will happen to the ones that were built for the auto shows and the press. Probably be at Barrett Jackson in a few years.

There are stacks of LHD ones at the Holden plant here in Adelaide all dressed up as Pontiacs.. Maybe going to the Mid East.

GM cancels plans to build Pontiac G8 sport truck

GM
Pontiac G8 sport truck
DETROIT — General Motors Corp. has canceled plans to build the Pontiac G8 sport truck that was scheduled to go on sale this year.
The decision to scrap the two-door vehicle with a 6-foot bed that's reminiscent of the Chevrolet El Camino was reported Tuesday by trade publication Automotive News.

Pontiac spokesman Jim Hopson confirmed the decision Wednesday, saying it's part of GM's "ongoing review" related to its long-term viability plan. Hopson says the sport truck didn't fit with the company's vision for Pontiac.

Hopson says the decision doesn't affect production plans for other G8s, including the G8 sedan, G8 GT and G8 GXP.

Rapper 50 Cent helped introduce the sport truck and two other Pontiacs in March at the New York International Auto Show.

GM, along with Chrysler LLC, are getting billions in federal loans from the U.S. Treasury Department. The loans require that the automakers submit a plan for viability by March 31.
Too bad, I think it's cool (and no, I don't have a mullet).

I LOVE El Caminos.

Interesting thing: I was talking to a guy from Denmark the other night and he was talking about people converting almost anything into utes to avoid something like 180% taxing. He said there were BMW, Mercedes, just about anything you could think of.

Check out Holdens V-series R8 SS ute.

Apparently the fastest ute on the planet!

I dont know what the pointiac stylists are doing! We give you'all a perfectly good car, & you smash the front end with a ugly stick!

Btw, these things are really rear-end light! Like having a corvette without the extra weight!

Cheers, Col.
