I'm glad you came here to tell us.
That's a TREMENDOUS burden to bear. I wish your family strength, peace and love.
Don't think for a second it's weak to ask for or seek help. Some things we just can't process properly. Several Pelicans had endured similar losses. It's a tough road. I saw a grief counselor on day 1.

God bless you and your family.

I didn't seek help and felt the effects of trying to deal with it" like a man".

Thank you all for the support. I'm on leave here, so I got to see her one last time. Also, that means I'm here with my dad and older brother to help them through. I called red cross and they changed my leave to emergency leave, and my unit is trying to get me temporarily attached to the recruiting station here, so I can stay an additional month or so. My dad needs that support. He's the strong one, the rock-solid father, but he just lost his wife of 32 years, and as hard as it is for me, I can't imagine how he must feel.

Monday we're having our funeral service for her. She wanted to be cremated and have her ashes put out at the beach, so that's what we're going to do. We're all just trying to remember the good things. We have a ton of good memories, I'd say more than most families. She truly was an incredible woman, and a great mother. She was in pain in her last days, small health issues, but I guess they all added up and she couldn't take it anymore. I live 4000 miles away and my older brother is getting ready to be deployed, so this is the last we'll all be together for years. So she got to see us all together, and she knew we'd all be here to support each other, so this is probably the "easiest" time for the rest of us. That's just like mom, thinking of us until the last minute. She was the most loving woman out there, everyone who met her thought she was great. She had a huge heart. I'm building a myspace page as a memorial for her, that's all I can really think of doing at the moment. Just gotta stay busy to help myself get through, you know.

Again, thanks for the kind words guys.

I think this is probably the most terribly sad post I ever read on this forum. I am very sorry.

Well, it's day 3 now. It's getting easier. When my dad, my brother and I all woke up this morning, we all felt better. The worst is over (except for the funeral service, which is going to be very hard). We all miss her terribly, and we all love her, but she's out of pain, and all her troubles are gone. We're just trying to stay busy and keep our minds busy. The funeral home is going to reconstruct her upper lip (damaged when she took her life) so we can have an open casket viewing. That will help my dad and I a lot, since right now neither of us can barely sleep, even with strong sleeping pills, because every time we close our eyes we see her as we found her on her bed. I know that will haunt me for the rest of my days, but at least I can try to replace that with an image of mom just laying there at peace, as beautiful as she always was.

I don't have any pictures of her on this computer except this goofy one of her and my older brother. Taken about a month ago, shortly after her 51st birthday. She loved her sons more than anything in the world.

Beautiful lady.

Be careful with the sleeping pills.

Not trying to be preachy... when my brother past I drank like a fish... "Scott, those are margaritas not shots"

One too many Margs and your driving the porcelain bus... one too many pills... nuff said.

Armon;
Sorry for your loss. It is hard but it will get easier as time goes on. Cherish the good times that all of you had together. +1 on some counselling to aid in the grieving process.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. One of my two best friends growing up shot himself on his 30th birthday.

I wish I could say you will completely recover, but instead I can only say that you will learn to cope, and will remember what was beautiful in your mother, and think about how all things must pass, even though those of us still living often feel that some things pass too soon. My experience is 13 years old, and I still feel it.

Please know that others care and can help, hold on to those who remain, look for meaning in what came before, do the tasks in front of you, and keep going. It gets better a few months in, and comes to some peaceful balance in a year or two. No reason will ever seem fully sufficient to explain your pain, but your pain will subside and be bearable.

Watch and console both yourself and your family until then. Be strong for them, but remember to take care of yourself as well.

I wish I could give more than words.....
