Rustiest running car/truck in the forum contest

Rustiest running car/truck in the forum contest........my entry.

I was driving this up until a couple of weeks ago, a zebra striped 1990 Geo Tracker. I think that if the forum had a contest for rustiest car on the road, this would win. I don't know what was holding the front shock towers on to the car. The final stake to the heart was the large hole under the main fuse block near the battery, road salt got to the electrical system and that was it.

See photos IMG7474 thru IMG7526 in my photobucket account.

Pulled the battery for this shot, you can see the front passenger side tire below.

Bad exhaust leak at the manifold, bad brake line leak, bad throw out bearing, bad short which I thawrted for a few months by jiggling the wiring harness, bad rust including shot floor boards.

She ran strong up until the end, I got my monies worth, purchased new for $11,054.00 in June 1990, died on safari February 2009 - RIP.

The duct tape was to keep carbon monoxide out, it didn't work - fiberglass work in that area lasted five years before failure.

I wish I still had my '85 S10.

It had no floor. The vinyl floor covering and sound-deadening material gave the appearance of a floor, but the steel was long gone.

It was painted dark blue, but the passenger door was off of another light blue S10 and the bed was from a third, red S10. It had rust all over. My wife called it the "bruise".

I had a guy drive a 914 into my shop in south Florida one day..........had a fresh guards red paint job on it and he was having problems getting the driver's side door to latch. We took out the removable targa top and the car fell to the ground in a rusty v-shaped heap!!

That's not fair! I live in sunny California and the weather is always nice:

But, just in case, where would I look for this stuff you call rust?

Nice car... have you looked under the battery?

For those of you who don't know the 944 battery sits in a tray up near the windshield... where leaf and debris can trickle down into it... thus plugging the drain in the battery tray.
