Pathetic
I took the bike out of storage today. Today's high was 42º.
I just did a ride around town, freezing my nads off. I even stopped by the local bike shop to buy non-mesh gloves.

It's pretty nice cycling weather here right now.
42 is nothing though. Just dress for it and you should be fine. When I lived in Chicago I used to routinely go out running when it was pretty darn cold (and snowing) to marathon train. I used to check the temperature on one of the local banks on my route - they had one of those signs out front that used to flash the time of day and the temperature. My record was -9 - no windchill. That's damn cold. I still did 15k that morning though.

I rode today. It was clear as a bell, but cold. Nothing my trusty long underwear couldn't handle.

We ride all winter here, and some mornings start in the 30s. Brrrrrrrrrr.
It was finally warming up, but this weekend is rain. Spints today for an hour, and tomorrow will be just short of 70 miles. Next weekend is tour de Houston Only a month to the Houston to Austin MS150.

I think Chris is talking about his motorcycle. But yeah, he's still whining.
A few weeks ago we had high temps around 19 degrees. There were some hardcore riders out there, even at those temps. Cold weather gear or not that's just too damned cold! |

42 degrees isn't that cold, we see it get that cold one or two times a year here, but only at night in the dead of winter

40's isn't bad if you've got gear. And heated grips
![]() As for riding, last weekend was out to Joshua Tree and back, a little under 400 miles on the day. Wednesday I rode down to San Diego for meetings with the Navy, then up to Pendleton for meetings there, then back up to LA. And of course commuting to work every day on the bike. Last night after a full day meeting with our SMEs I rode out to the Red Lion to watch them drink beer and tell stories. Then to Highland Park for a late dinner, then back home this AM. Riding good. Whining bad. |

One of my cycling buddies just picked up a flat black Fat Bob. Nice bike. He's itching to go out, but it's raining...

I drove my Targa around today with the top off (of course) and it was 42 degrees, but sunny, so it felt warmer than it really was. Great day!

I've used a Gerbings heated jacket the las few years, has greatly added to the comfort of my short commute to work. I'm now good in the teens.
btw, that site was for seconds/used stuff and doesn't include a heat controller. I'd recommend going direct to the Gerbings site. Jim
