Text message etiquette?

I comissioned a young guy (21 y.o.) to do a pencil portrait of the step dtrs. During the course of the deal I saved his name on my cell phone and it appears first in my phone book ("Aaron"). Occasionally I will look at my phone and due to a "butt" dial, my address book will be open and showing his name.

I get a text from this yahoo as follows: "Quit f*kcing sending me blank texts, a**hole." Huh? I rarely text anyone so I go to my outbox/msgs sent and find no record of any outgoing texts to him. So I guess somehow I butt dialed texts to him.

Anyways...I've deleted his name so it won't inadvertently text him. But his msg seems a bit extreme. Wouldn't a simple phone call to me to let me know what was happening be more appropriate. I know its a minor thing but it just seemed a bit off the wall.

FWIW the portrait turned out well and I paid him 50% more than he quoted me because it took him a bit longer than expected.

first - he's 21
second - he obviously wasn't raised to be polite
third - may want to keep him away from you step daughters

I would give him a quick call and tell him you are the a**hole that has been butt texting him.
His response was definitely rude, but chances are he didn't have your number programmed and he will be terribly embarrassed once he finds out how he relied. But it is time to lock your phone.

He probably thinks that you're just some random idiot because you're number isn't saved in his phone. If you called him he would probably be really embarrassed. He may not have unlimited texts and you could have sent a bunch which may have pissed him off.

That said, he reacted like a dumbazz, but he is 21, so that's not surprising.

More importantly, lock your darn phone. I keep mine set to lock if I don't screw with it for 30 secs, but I also manually lock it when I'm done with it or before I stick it in my pocket. Pretty much all phones lock in one or two key presses. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

Exactly why I still have a folding phone. No butt dialing, no butt texting.

Butt dialing?? LOL I usually tit dial being as my phone is usually in my shirt pocket.

If you are butt texting him, then figure others are too. Downside of being first one listed. He should change his name to something like .. ummm Z-man?

He probably doesnt' know you all that well Due, so don't take it personally

Program a name into your phone like ***000***AAA, make sure it comes up first on the menu; then when your butt gets lonely and dials up it wont go anywhere?

BTW, PICS!!!!
Scan that puppy and post it up will ya?

Program your fax machine call him at 3AM every day for the next month. Re-try every 20 minutes, 10 re-tries.

Yeah a*****. LOL.

I set my first number up as one that wasn't actually a number so if this happened I didn't have to pay for the call. Too much Scottish in me i guess. Maybe txt him back and say "Sorry c****."

Post his phone number in the Craigslist "M4M" erotica section. That'll learn him.
