Air wrench recommendations?
I need to get one for general auto/bike stuff. The Craftsman seems like crap.
What do you guys use?

I have the top shelf Harbor Freight 1/2" impact wrench, so far its lasted a good 6 years of intermittent use and neglect. I bought HF because I don't use it daily, for the $80-ish it cost me I can't complain.

Buy a used IR at a pawn shop and you'll get years of service out it.

I have an old (now) IR2131. There is a night and day difference between it and my old cheapie.
600 ft lbs reverse torque comes in handy.

Ditto but I've only had it for 3-4 years.

+1 on an IR...it'll remove stubborn bolts that others won't (I've loaned mine out to others for this purpose on several occasions). Expensive (by comparison), but worth it imo...I bought mine when a pro wrench told me "there is no substitute"

+ 1 on the IR 2131, or 2135. Sears Usually has the best deal on them. This is the gun that I use every day. I get about 2-4 years out of each one. They have more power than you will need. The new Snap on guns are simply BAD AZZ. The had a demo tool that coupled two guns together, and it spun my IR backwards. But they are a little bit pricey for the occasional home user.

I don't remember where I got my air ratchet but I rarely used it, maybe none at all. I bought the air sander from HF and used it several years before it's broke. It went through my old house remodeling, sanding most of the walls to silky smooth... I consider that it's too good for the price I paid.

Another vote for Ingersoll Rand. Indestructible.

my air ratchet is a craftsman. it is smaller and i bought it solely to zip off the valve cover fasteners on my 911. that task is endless if you do it manually. it works GREAT for the few times i need it.
my impact is an IR. it is a burly thing. i love the lighter, cooler looking, IR titanium ones..but i dont need it all the time and couldnt justify the cost.

I am as thrifty as anyone here and have gotten good use out of a wide variety of inexpensive tools, but here is where you want to get something good, like IR. Used, pawn shop, whatever. The difference between a good impact wrench and a poor one is like night and day. A good one will save you HOURS of frustration and work compared to a mediocre one. It's a choice between frustration and bliss.

I have an old Black & Decker that I inherited from my wifes grandfather. It is from the late 50's early 60's and is a brute. All metal. Last week I was in Walmart and was in the auto section and they had Campbell Hausfeld stuff on clearance. I picked up a 1/2 inch gun in a plastic case WITH impact sockets for $10.00 !!! I plugged it into an air hose from my 60 gallon commercial compressor and this new gun has some balls. Hard to go wrong for ten bucks. I have said it many times in my opinion you will use your air tools IF you make it easy to use them. Most guys their compressor is buried under crap, the air hoses are a tangled mess and the air tools can't be found. My garage I have three air drops inside, one at the front and one on each side. I have one outside. They all have either flex hoses or hose reels and they all have quick connects. I turn on the compressor and have instant air anywhere in or outside of the garage. All the air tools are in one place and easy to get to. It literally only takes me 30 seconds to be up and running.

When I was turning a wrench for a living I went through two IR impact guns. However, for home use they are awesome!
