The entire incident very likely proceeds in a completely different direction.
Ab-so-fuking-lutely. You think if a bunch of rich-looking white people w/ a "W '04" sticker on their SUV jumped out at the ER door, they would have been ordered to put their hands on the car?? Disgusting. Yes, running a red light is an infraction. It's also an infraction that is completely ignored when someone is about to give birth or bleeding to death in the backseat. This does not rise to that level of emergency but the fact that the cop does not even ask after they drove to the ER w/ him behind them w/ sirens on is unbelievable. Then the cop threatens the guy again and again with all of the bad things he "could do" to him, just seems like terrible unprofessionalism. Being a good cop is all about using judgement and discretion on the street, this guy was a robot.

I know that cops deal with jerk-hole people as well who deserve no breaks but I thought that this guy was awfully calm considering the way he was being treated.

Exactly how they treat me when I get stopped. In my experience, in a nighttime stop ...if someone gets out of the car...much less a bunch of folks jumping out...they are going to be put at a disadvantage. If they had been the least bit cooperative...they would have been free to go in seconds.

You get guns pulled on you during night time stops? You must be one scary dude.

This officer lacks good judgement and discretion. A good cop would have recognized the emotional distress that this family was under and adjusted his approach accordingly.

He could easily have gone inside with the family and dealt with it there.

He had back up, another cop had pulled up within a minute of the cars stopping.

He states very calmly and clearly a minute or so into the stop that "it was not a chase"

That encounter could have gone any way he wanted it to go.

Even after the initial emotional outburst by Moats, when he has calmed down and is clearly being compliant, composed and respectful to the officer the POS cop obviously drags the stop out even longer by lecturing Moats for several more minutes.

This is all after the hospital security have informed the officer that the m-in law was inside dying, after a nurse has come out and said that Moats needs to come inside NOW. This is after the cop has already determined that there are no outstanding warrants for Moats.

This officer was in control of the situation from pretty much the beginning but still he chose to punish Moats.

The guy is a POS.

I saw a news conf. clip by the cop's chief today. He was very apologetic. I wonder if anything will happen to the cop.

I sure hope so. Maybe a month off w/o pay and a big shyt stain in his personnel folder would suffice and keep the next guy from abusing his power.
