iPhone 16g versus Blackberry Bold

I'm a middle-aged (almost) fart and I hate texting (and talking on the phone). I want one or the other mainly for the web browsing. The folks on here are pretty much on the ball with techie things. Is one of these devices head over heels better than the other as far as web browsing goes? I'd hate to be stuck with one I don't like. BTW, I'm on AT&T and can upgrade since I'm out of contract.

Sammie and I thank you!

I can only speak to the iphone. I have had mine for a year and love it. I can't say I have taken to the touch screen for texting, but it works pretty well. The application, many free, that are available for iphone are awesome. The phone has been suprisingly durable as well.

Thanks guys. That gives me an excuse to wait. They're (ATT) not giving me much of a discount with either one now, online anyway.

Think refurbished 8GB iPhone 3Gs are like $99 on the ATT website.

Personally, I'd wait. Check out the Palm Pre when it comes out too.

I have a Bold, but it sounds like the iPhone would be better for you. Having played with an iPhone its web browser is better. If you did a lot of text and email I'd go with the Bold, the full QWERTY keyboard is great.

To my knowledge, BBs still don't use wireless internet, just cel network. iPhone on a fast wireless network = win.

Not true, my Bold has WiFi as do several others. On a cell network it uses the same 3G as the iPhone.

Does the iPhone have integrated GPS? I use my GPS with Google Maps a LOT. When traveling it's absolutely invaluable.

My bad. All the BBs that my friends/coworkers have do not have WiFi. Must be a new development.

Yes, the iPhone 3G does have an integrated GPS. Comparing Google Maps functionality (which I also use constantly) with a BB Storm, the iPhone integration was more elegant.

I've never played with a Storm, so I can't comment. After past experience, I'm convinced the Verizon is the devil.

I think several of the newer BBs with full keyboards also have WiFi. I know the newer Pearls do as well, though mine didn't.

The new Flip Blackberry from T-Mobile, not only has Wifi, but it has VOIP calling when you are in a Wifi Hotspot or if you program it for your home router.

For something like $5/mth, you can make unlimted VOIP calls. This saved a lot of money for my Field Service people, when they were in Romania.
