I really think this guy will be a star..just not in my sky.....;)

I don't think Robert Plant was suffering when he banged out Zeppelin I at the tender age of 18. He lost his daughter when she was young (Houses of the Holy era) which resulted in some emotional songs.

It isn't about pain and suffering all of the time either. I think gifted musicians have a way of connecting with the music. They can sing about someone else's experience so that you feel that other person's joy, pain, envy, grief, etc.

I also really like Chris Cornell. It was a cover of a Cornell Cover of Billy Jean that really won David Cook the competition last year IMO. Most people had never heard Cornell's cover version so thought the TOTALLY slick arrangement was Cook's, even though the little girly man host Ryan Seacrest announced it was a Cornell cover at the beginning.

...agreed, cant believe Cook pulled it off, I actually think he flavored it a little different that Cornell.

Kanye West is a gay fish. I want to here Adam cover the "Im a Gay Fish" by Kenye West. :D

“I think the reason it’s so powerful is everybody from the kid getting beaten up every day, to the gay kid at the high school ... to the cheerleader dating the quarterback ... to the guy in a suit, feels their thing is hard and they feel alone in their experience on the planet. ... Regardless of who’s singing it, if it comes from that place, it can be a really powerful thing. I think Adam sang it from that place.”
-- Gary Jules, Singer of Mad World (who came up with the arrangement of mad world that Adam Sang)

I think Adam would make an awesome front man for a hard core band. Could see him fronting a band like Iron Maiden.

We really have not seen a guy with a set of pipes and stage presence in a while.

There used to be a slew of em, Tyler, Halford, Dio, Graham Bonnet.

I agree, I think he would make a great front man the likes we haven't seen in years. I'm not sure that he's as dynamic as Geoff Tate was in his prime though.

Bonnets a bit of a tough story. Was an up and comer (Marbles) then dropped off the radar for a few years.

Musicians knew of him and Blackmore looked him up.

After Rainbow he did Alcatraz with Yngwie and Cozy as well as a bunch of other projects, some high profile but his momentum was just gone.

Kinda like Terry Reid (Terry who?) He turned down Page for the Zep frontman spot and also turned down Deep Purple, Gillian got the spot instead.

Tate spent a lot of time honing his skills on the bar/club circuit.

You could catch Queensryche just about every weekend at LaMours Brooklyn.

The music scene in the late 70's, early 80's on Long Island was incredible.

Lambert hosts a round table discussion of the issues with fellow vocalists Plant, Rose, Cobain, Roth, and Wonder.

I think "Change" would be a good cover for him to.

You too cool for music?

scottmandue 04-11-2009 02:47 PM

Lighten up Frances...

I am a musician... I own several Queen albums (on vinyl... Freddy Mercury was ROCK STAR who wrote music and had his own bad-ass rock band to back him up.

Comparing him to Adam Lambert is apples to oranges.

i.e. two different kind of fruit.

m21sniper 04-11-2009 02:56 PM

I agree. But then no two fruit are ever the same. We can only compare them to the closest variety. ;)

Comments after watching the Top 7 performance of "Born to be wild"

FFS they should just end this "competition" now.

AL is in such a completely different stratosphere than the rest of these poor bastards that making them all continue to wiggle on the hook like a bunch of karaoke worms is rapidly approaching cruel and unusual punishment.

Man what i wouldn't do for even 1/4 the singing voice that guy has....
