John Lydon can be a prick but he's massively witty and intelligent. I could listen to him all day, he's made me nearly cough-up a lung laughing in the past. Plus he's a complete gentleman in that interview compared to BBT. No comparison, IMO.

Billy Bob was a douche rag and the interviewer acquitted himself extremely well under the circumstances. Bravo to him.

The interviewer, Jian Ghomeshi, was a stellar example of grace under pressure. Impressive.

yea i wasnt meaning that lydon was coming off as a prick. i love the guy. very honest. no BS. could care less what anyone thinks. i thought the tone was similar in that, seemed BBT was trying to be like Lydon or Reed...that FTW attitude or something, and it didnt work the same...obviously because Lydon and Reed made their fame by writing genious songs and BBT did NOT

...there's also the problem that BBT is an incredibly weak drummer...

what the interviewer should have asked is "how do you feel BBT, about the fact that your band tolerates your very marginal musical talent just because a few people recognize your name from your former career?"

Havent' heard the interview, but it seems some are upset because he insulted Canada. I have to listen to ignorant celebrities insult the U.S. all the time, but God forbid someone insults Canada!

You really should listen to it and I dont think anyone (in this thread anyways) is complaining about him slagging Canada, most of the interview is him being confused and generally making idiotic comments.

If I gave BBT a penny for his thoughs I would want change.

BBT might be an ass but if Ghomeshi and his producer agreed not to discuss BBT's acting career and then proceeded to do just that - Thornton had a right to be pissed off.

Agree, the host was arrogant.
BBT was just trying to keep the spotlight on his band and it's members.
Other than that the intervew sucked.

Ghomeshi and CBC staff explained the situation at some length the following day. The only deal with BBT's handlers was that the interview should "focus on the band and their music" rather than BBT's career.

And that clearly was the focus.

BBT was just a complete arse. Full stop.

as a host then if you were looking for info on the band, would that not lead you away from BBT and focus your questions to the other 3 members in front of you?

So BBT blew him off, after that then the host should have done the same to BBT.
But he continued to engage BBT.

As a host if you don't get the answer you were hoping for and you want to end an interview go ahead and act as the host did.
BBT gave a bad answer when the host reacted poorly BBT just turned him off.

Listen to the host "sigh" acting like BBT's lack of cooperation has exhausted him, he's a dork too. His ego can't handle it. :)

Maybe I'm baked but I get (some of) BBT on that one.
I am not a BBT fan just listening to two people talking.

Clearly BBT did not want to be the spokesperson for the band and his band mates were ready to talk about the band but the host hardly gave them a chance.

I agree with Ted. No one forced the host to keep asking BBT questions, he should have ignored him and engaged the other band members.

The interviewer is as big a horse's ass as thornton.

BBT is a prick. Ban him from Canada and good riddance.....

We'll keep Farley Mowat on our side if you keep BBT on your side....seems like a fair deal...
