This is the last post/thread from him. It was his 10,000th post on New Years Eve.

Well that clinches it, when I reach 2,438 I'm retiring too. Doh! damn me and my simpleton mathematics!

Hell, I'm way past 10,000 and have nothing to say. Never really did anyway but that doesn't stop me from coming on here. Most others too. It's one thing I like about this place - the fact that so many people can get together and talk about nothing so regularly. It's great. Kinda' like Seinfeld in that respect. It's about nothing... And everything.

I miss having Mike around here too.

Its not the place it used to be and frankly the political BS soured it for many of us. As well I simply do not have the hours to spend here that I once did. Made some really good friends here (like Vinny, Dave and Mike) and miss it at times but dammit, have work to get done and life calls.

Like Mike, I stop back in from time to time but will never spend the time here that I once did.

There is a life away from PPOT. Try it sometime...

I hear you.

I think much depends on the nature of your work. I sit at the screen much of the day for my "real" work—so the temptation to check into PPOT from time to time is great.

But it is an enormous time suck, and I can certainly see the wisdom in stepping back from it a bit.

BTW are you still flying, or have you taken retirement?

Right, I sit here staring at these screens all day. Since I don't smoke, Pelican is my smoke break.

Just chatting with Mike (Lube) on FB and he has done the same thing. He just mentioned spending time reading a book in the time that he would normally have been on here, so know where he is coming from.

Still flying but slowing down a lot. Taken a full time gig here in the states. Considering who is in office and some of the recent decisions taken by his team, being overseas is not a good idea now.
