Anyone else drink Eight-o-clock coffee?
100% Columbian here...
But, they are running a "points" deal which you get "prizes" for buying bags of coffee. You log the bags you buy into the website. Anyway, most of the prizes are not worth very much. But, after buying about $75 dollars worth of coffee, you earn enough points (2500) for a $25 visa gift card. www.eightoclock.com That is well worth it. And the bags are carrying a $1 off coupon inside them. Just passing this along!

We've been buying eight o'clock on subscription from Amazon. The only coffee my wife prefers. I like it too, but it can't be bought easily in Ca. for some reason.
Wonder if Amazon purchases count toward anything? Think we had this conversation before, Red. ![]() |

Yeah, I had to have it shipped in from NY, or have friends carry it out to San Diego.
It won't matter where it was purchsed, you type in the freshness/batch codes from the bottom of the bag. The small bags (13 oz) go for $4 here in Houston. You get 140 points per bag. So, after 18 bags, you'll have enough points for a $25 gift card. I don't know how many points for a 39 oz bag. But I'll be finding out shortly.

It cut me off after 6 ea. 12 oz bags and 940 points. Said I had to wait until next month to continue. I still had 3 bags to go. We just got our 8 bag monthly sub delivered yesterday. Some of the codes were smudged so bad I took a wildass guess and they all registered. So I don't think every number is super critical.
I heard Eight O'clock was highest rated on Consumer Union reported on local news last night. Cheap and great taste. Hard to beat. Thanks for the heads up! Last edited by TerryH; 02-05-2009 at 05:01 PM.. |

I thought you meant do you have coffee at 8 PM? Yes, I am having one right now, at 8 PM. I am cranky.
1.5 cups espresso 2 cups 1% 5 tsp of double chocolate syrup whipped cream on top I call it liquid attitude improvement.

Hey James, Just redeemed 2500 points for the $25 visa card. Really a great deal considering it took me less than 2 months. This means they are rebating me $150 a year to drink their coffee.
They do seem to be a little slow on the processing end tho. Thanks for the headsup! ![]() |

That's all the A&P in Jersey used to carry. They had grinders at the front of the store and you would grind your coffee after you paid. I don't see what the big deal is. It was always decent coffee though.

The 100% Columbian is excellent coffee, and better than most coffee, even for the price.

Yep!
Yep, same here in MI. The "Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co." was right near my grandparent's home. Long gone now... it's a dollar store now.

Been drinking 8 o'clock for years.
Recently switched to the blue bag. It is 50% decaf, tastes great and can drink a pot without getting wired...

8-O'Clock is by far my favorite coffee. I like Bokar Blend.

A valid point. Perhaps it's my advancing age but drinking a pot of full-tilt 8 o'clock got to where I had the hand shakes at times. Swithching to 50% decaf stopped that.

I bought a super automatic expresso machine. It will make just about anything you want, coffee-wise. The beauty of it is that with a press of the button, I have a fresh cup of coffee (and I mean, fresh ground beans, etc, each time!) the way I want it, anytime of the day or night, in about 40 seconds.
When my parents moved here, my dad loved my machine. I convinced my sisters to go in with me on buying my dad one as a house warming. At 80 yrs old, he drinks more coffee per day than I do!

I got a 42 oz bag for $11.22 at Sam's club. I really have to sign up for this.

My wife is the real coffee drinker and has always preferred Eight O'clock. Frankly, I wouldn't buy coffee for myself only. For whatever reason, EO isn't easily found in California so we order by monthly subscription from Amazon.
Each month we get 8 12oz bags of beans for $37.25 delivered to our door. We skip a couple months because we don't finish each order before the next one arrives. I figure we average 9 months worth = 72 bags = 54 lbs @ $335/yr or $6.20 per lb. Now figure in the awards club and the $1 coupon inside each bag = $100+$72 = $172. $335 - $172 = $163 / 54lbs = $3 per lb net cost for great tasting coffee. A couple years ago when the household budget was much larger, I wouldn't have looked twice at this, but it's getting tighter around here all the time, so every little bit helps. |
