Hah,

That ones always funny.

Still one of the greatest single performances of all time.

The Woodstock movie irritates me though. The editing was terrible. Can't believe they did not have better camera angles to work with. The great performances are the only thing that make it watchable.

Thank you. Now I finally know what he was singing.

The line: "Gotta gotta La-Z-Boy I'm afraid" has stumped me for years.

In grad school, a couple buds and I carted 2 monster VOTs into another bud's tiny beach cottage living room, hooked them up to his newly built Citation amp, cranked up Joe Cocker and he blew out the multi-paned livingroom window when he came in through the bathroom window - Ohhh, yeah!!!

That was simply outstanding.

I never had the pleasure of seeing him live.

For me, he was one of the greatest of his time. Some actually wondered whether he had some sort of spastic medical condition; he didn't - just physically responded to music in a unique and personal way.

Nailed it (used to do a fair imitation myself).

Yep. Even though I'm not a huge fan of Joe Cocker, there's a passion and an honesty in there, an ability to completely lose yourself in the music, that's very rare to find today. It's out there, but it's not on stages that big or experienced by crowds so large anymore, unfortunately.

Am I mistaken that's he's high as a kite? He's lost all right but I don't think it's in the music.

"high as a kite", quaint. It's the music, stoned or no.

Perhaps you prefer the slickly coifed, polished genteelness of Tom Jones?
