Can I "fix" a plug wire?

Ford F150 has a cut in a spark plug boot. It runs great until I go through a puddle of water and it arcs on the exhaust header. Its a small cut/hole about the size of a ballpoint pen point. Is there some sealant that I can fill in the cut in the rubber boot until I have time to locate the old wires from when I changed these out? I'm thinking some kind of silicone sealant... I'm not looking for a permanent fix.

RTV or shrink tubing. I've used both for this very exact thing.

I'm thinking Elec tape will unravel with the heat. Shrink tubing won't work cause its on the boot and it would be impossible to find a piece that big in diameter. RTV silicone has possiblities. Suggested brand that I can find at the local Lowes or FLAPS?

Heat shrink comes in large sizes.

Wrap it in aluminum foil or you could change it out with a wire that isn't as susceptible to water intrusion.

Because wrapping it in electrical tape and aluminum foil for the next 6 months, or major rain (whichever comes first) is easier than going to Autozone and getting the $15 set of plug wires for his common easily repaired domestic truck.

I messed up a plug wire boot on the 993 plug wire change, which, if you've read anything about this job, is about as fun as a headliner replacement or an engine rebuild. I taped it up and it's been fine for three years now.

A plug boot is less than $2 at the local parts store.

I don't know where you guys shop but a set of wires is more than $15 and the FLAPS didn't have just the boot or one wire. That aside, I don't have time to change out the set and wanted to do a quick fix to tide me over till I had time to find the old set I replaced and dig out the old wire which worked fine but was replaced just cause (which you should already know if you took time to read what I originally wrote rather than use all your energy looking for witty put downs).

Jeez, at 15 that's cheap compared to our cars. But, he's right, you can buy "components." Hey, if tape works, it works. Put a tie wrap around the tape if heat is a problem.

There is another form of electrical tape that fuses over time.

Option B: Electrical tape with a tie wrap over it.
