And sex. Hurricane sex lasts for hours. Earthquake sex? Over way too fast.

I was on duty in downtown LA, upstairs in the station it felt like a truck had hit the station. LAFD went right into earthquake mode, we get all the apparatus out of the station and drive to a designated safe area for our district, then each apparatus does a drive of our district on a designated route to survey for damage. We got a lot of automatic alarms, the shaking messes with the alarm systems but everyone was good.

Yup, I felt a hard jolt followed by a few seconds of shaking. My bet is a 4.0 aftershock, let me know if I win the pool

Only one little bump pretty much vertical. No shaking, no lateral motion.

I felt it in Long Beach, er, rather I heard it. I was standing next to a screen door that began to rattle. I didn't feel the ground move, but the cat did. She is freaked at this point. Her little heart was racing.
