Someone I know says he saw Bigfoot

I have no reason to doubt his sanity. He told me the circumstances.

Out alone riding his mountain bike on logging roads in the Eureka, Arcata, far Northern CA area. He stops to carry his bike across a muddy puddle and he smells something wild and raunchy. Then he hears a deep, husky, sort of mouth breathing sound. Just then he looks to his left and sees a tall, brown haired thing walk swiftly out of sight on two legs. He says he freaked, didn't put his bike down and just ran with it back the same way he came. He says he didn't stop, didn't look back for what felt like an eternity.

If that was a bear, wouldn't it have given chase? He said it walked fast on two legs, not drop back down on all fours to move away. He is sure it was Bigfoot.

The guy isn't a kook and I asked him, being in Humboldt County and all, if had some 'shrooms before the ride. He says no. His wife thinks the rough terrain has jostled his brain a little too much. I just think he saw what he wanted to see. He'll be telling this story to his grandkids who'll think Gramps is senile.

Why not go back and look for some prints?

He is too scared! I rode the same trails with him a few years ago and saw bear and cougar poop (he says that what they were anyway - what the heck do I know, I'm from the city). I promised myself I would never venture out to those woods again without a gun.

That description pretty accurately describes a lot of the human female population that lives around that area (Shasta in particular).

Probably just a chick who wanted some lovin'.

there are alot of other things to look for besides foot prints and poop. Might try wood knocks too or at least listen for them.

My MIL claims she sees ghosts and angels everywhere (I don't believe in either).

I had a girlfriend in high school tell me that she could see people's "auras" and she based her friendships/romantic engagements on one's "aura". (I apparently had a particularly good one?) Anyway, that was the last conversation we had before we broke up.

Me? You've pretty much got to haul a bigfoot, ghost, or angel out in front of me to believe they exist.

And I do believe in Bigfoot, I've seen one in person: http://www.bigfoot4x4.com/

It was probably just another Wookie. Or maybe a unicorn.

No one will ever know what he saw, probably just a bear.

After all the years of searching not one bone or scintilla of evidence exists for bigfoot. If he wants to believe it was bigfoot nothing will change his mind.

man bigfoot was my worst childhood nightmare. would dream that he was peering into my window at night. even had a recurring dream where he was chasing me through some old european village somewhere and i duck into a gift shop to hide. i think Scooby Doo was to blame for that.

I think the first non-children's book I ever bought was one on Bigfoot. I got interested in it after an episode of the Six Million Dollar Man. At that time I thought I'd never make it to northern CA in my lifetime to explore that area and look for tracks. Still haven't been north of Sacramento. But I really do want to explore that area someday.

Lots.

Most who are close enough also report that rank odor, too.

There are plenty of reasons to believe Sasquatch doesn't exist... including people like those guys in GA that perpetrated that hoax... I think it was last year.

But there have been enough non-kooks who have had legit sightings of things that were definitely not bears that should cause intelligent people to not discount sightings like your friend had.

Sammy, if this same thing happened to you, I would hope you'd expect a little ridicule, but would know you weren't losing your mind.

I wonder if you can cross breed a bigfoot and unicorn? That would be sweet!
