Has anyone heard this one? California proposal to ban sale of used engines??

On another forum, some guys are saying the were asked to sign a petition at the local pick-n-pull against some used engine legislation. I searched google and the new bing thing, and found nothing.

Anyone know anything about this?

+1

I feel more and more trapped here every day. It'd be an awesome place if we could cut down the population by about half and completely get rid of the state government. Then it'd be pretty darn close to paradise.

I hope it's true...having a source of slightly used engines without the cost of getting the Jspec engines!

That makes a lot of sense. Especially since every vehicle in the world is running a used engine.

LOL. Can you imagine Kali with the F1 stewards (best governator voice) "You must have your sealed engine compartment checked every year to ensure Kompliance."

Good gawd, this damn state is going to force everyone into a new car. Or onto public transportation.

What a sham!

Have any of you checked to see if this true?

I can't find anything on it. Some of you really need to stop getting so worked up.

Exactly why I asked.

The other forum was worked into a lather too. I couldn't find anything on it.

I have no doubt this state would love to force everyone onto (lousy) public transportation or into new cars every 2-3 years. None whatsoever.

I wonder how these geniuses think it's going to be paid for with the wealth-destruction initiatives they seem so hell-bent on passing all the time.

This state is so utterly bass-ackwards it's astonishing. Seriously, Monty Python couldn't write comedy as good as the stuff that gets proposed (and enacted!) here. If only it were fiction... If only...

New cars as designed to be "green" by government committee. These people do NOT like the automobile...

Brought to you by the same geniuses that repeatedly certify our schools to use 40-year-old, diesel-puking school buses. Without seat belts. Pretty sure some of them are old enough not to have tempered glass either (although I'd like to THINK that's been retrofitted...) You'd like to think anyway.

The state government of CA hates its subjects... er... "citizens". And the fact that they can come and go as they please. There are some very serious control issues at work in the minds of the people that come up with this stuff.

Funny thing is if my Porsche were suddenly removed from my ownership - which I have no doubt this state might one day attempt toward all of us, I would buy a Mustang, preferably a Bullit or at least a GT with the track pack.

A Mini Cooper S wouldn't be bad, either, if I was feeling...well...economical.

BMW or M-B - too expensive to be so disposable in accordance with green-minded interests...

Whatever; I have road bikes - all of which are a lot more fun in traffic than my Porsche could ever hope to be, bless its little German soul.

Frankly, my decision to buy a Mustang now was done after Cindy listened to Obama's speech...he extolling how we all must sacrifice to save the planet, how we will be having "green" cars, blah-blah woof-woof.

Of course, it's WE who must sacrifice. He has no problem with taking air force 1, helicopters, and limos so he & the first lady can take in dinner & a show in NYC.

I wonder how many hydrocarbons were burned on that little trip?
