Absolute power corrupts absolutely
I just finished having an interesting conversation with a friend. We were talking about the Iran thing, and he said, why doesn't Ahmadinejad step down. He says, look, just give up, go home, go enjoy life before you dig yourself a bigger hole. Then it hits me, since this is Bernie Max week in F1. I said, well, think about this. You are Bernie Ecclestone or Max Mosley. This walk out thing happens. But even before this, not too many people liked you already. Now, this happens and if you go on any Formula 1 forum, everybody is professing their dislike of you. Dislike is a mild word for their true feelings. Absolutely just about anybody who follows the sport wants you to step down. You have been there for too long and, even if your current ideas for the future of F1 have sound points, nobody wants to hear them from you. You have overstayed your welcome. That's it. You are only there for your own personal satisfaction and not at the cost of just a few dissenting voices. No. Everybody wants you to step down. Thats it, you have had your day in the sun. Go home. And still, you stay there. You get slapped in the ass by nazi girls and still, you don't step down.
So, I said to my friend, I have no idea what that kind of power feels like. So much of it that even if the entire world detests you, you go on about your business as if nothing matters. It's a human flaw. We don't know because we are not in that situation. But I'm sure it takes a certain amount of assholic tendencies not present in all of us. After all, at this point money is no longer the reason considering their individual financial situations. So, I said to my friend, you are Ahmadinejad and still have some support. You have the Ayatollah even. Step down? Accept a new election? Forget it. Not even Bernie or Max are doing it even though they have just about every F1 fan calling them every name in the book. Now maybe if Ahmadinejad were caught in a video with some Israeli girls slapping him in the ass...........

Now olet us consider Augustus Caesar. He was always tellin people that in about five years when things get a little bit better he would step down and restore the Republic. Yet he knew that the only way he would be able to stop being Caesar was feet first.

I think the FIA will arrange a Ceasar-like "retirement party" for Max "Spanky" Mosley if the FOTA stand firm in their positions.

With cries of 'et tu Jean!' ring around the Paris offices as Spanky is ambushed by his erstwhile fellows...

It's better to be hated than irrelevant.

Why? I'd rather be irrelevant.
Wait....I am irrelevant!
