Fourth of July plans?
Wife's pub is gonna close since several of the regulars are throwing July 4th parties and all the staff needs a day off.
We've been invited to a number of diffferent parties and a couple of boating excursions, but declined. We're heading out to a neighboring town on the Mississippi River, reserved a room in a classic old motel that is described as timeworn nostalgic right outta the 50's/60's (i.e., kinda run down) with a big old pool. We're carrying a few books, a blender for boat drinks, maybe a blow up raft or two and were gonna take a step back in time, lounge in the pool, watch fireworks over a civil war battleground, drop a few bucks at a casino, find an authentic backroad Mississsippi Delta Juke Joint or two and relax on saturday and Sunday. And you?

Working 12 today and 12 on the 4th. We are swamped with work and normally never busy this time of the year, don't know whats going on? We were suppose to have today (holiday) and Saturday off, oh well.

My wife and I will probably drive the 73E to the Shenandoah National Park tomorrow morning. In the evening, we'll walk down to the National Mall for the fireworks display. We'll take in a ball game (Nats vs. Braves) on Sunday. Happy Independence Day!

Went to a tea party this morning...holding signs in front of city hall...lots of honks & thumbs ups from people driving by...discouraging looks from others. Fun.
Dinner later this afternoon with friends.

I'm working swing shift, 2-10pm. I don't mind, won't have to deal with putting on a family BBQ & the clean up. I'll just have to be careful driving home, don't want to get T-boned by a drunk. Getting two & a half overtime pay doesn't hurt either.

Burning some cow on the BBQ by the pool with friends.
Remembering what it took to get to this point in our countries life, and also trying to figure out how to get it out of the mess its in.

Todd, about 90 minutes South in good conditions. You are welcome to stop by if near.
I live in North Phoenix and I-40 runs through Flagstaff. Assume you are heading East/West? Sunday night will be a bear and unless you are coming this way would avoid it to tell the truth. Most all of the populace in Phoenix heads to the mountains for holidays and Friday afternoon and Sunday night they clog the roads that direction. I-17 North/South from Flag becomes a parking lot and its even worse if there is a single accident. Let us know if you are going to be near! Joe A

Cookout here w/ about 10 adults and a mess of kids. On 7/7 leaving for a week of camping on Vancouver Island in the Westy. Err, maybe. Said Westy crapped out on the highway this afternoon and I just got back from having it towed to mechanic, dropped key in mailbox w/ plea to get us on the road a day late. Crap and crap.

AM parade, burn some cow, relax for the day (finally) then load up the pick up with neighbors and head down for the fireworks over the James River, then come back home and blow some stuff up.

We are taking a tour with the Porsche Club to the Stanley Hotel in Colorado.
That is the hotel where The Shining was filmed. I am sure the tour guides are sick of hearing REDRUM. The 4th will be it's 100th birthday. We will eat lunch there and take a tour.
